I can say who I have hunted with...

But my sample size is rather limited, and I try and pick folks who have good reputations in the first place.

To me, when a good PH states that someone else is of the first rank, that is very meaningful... a client’s POV is much more limited. Most all of the guys I’ve hunted with I’d hunt with again.

Been to Zim 4X, all with Spike Claassen.
Never disappointed,a real pro, and good company around a campfire.

Corris Ferreira of Track-A-Hunt Safaris operating in Gache-Gache Campfire Area. Outstanding in all respects.Great area that is not over hunted. Most comfortable camp with no generator noise to disturb the ambiance of the camp. 5 star meals. Corris is great company and knows how to hunt. Great relationships with the indigenous people.

I do not know any personally who has hunted with these PH's but they always speak positively
and are willing to recommend other PH's that have had good success.

I have never really had a big desire to shoot a buffalo, but if I did, I would look at these
three:

Thierry
Philip Smythe
And, of course, "Fairgame"

I am sure there are other great ones out there as well.

Maybe one day......

There are many professional hunters here who I would gladly hunt with without any reservations.

Their reputation in conducting themselves as gentlemen speaks for itself.

It will boil down to where I am looking to hunt.

That is a very tough question. Certainly those that were named are excellent. Anyone who has been in the PH business for any length of time is deserving. While I have never hunted with John Sharpe his name should always be considered.
