If you are looking for a great plains hunt, at half the price charged by most African outfitters for similar hunts, don't let this hunt get away. Dirk Rohrmann is almost fully booked for '06, (there are still days open in April, 7-10 days in July and 7-14 days in August). If you decide to hunt with Dirk take my advice and stay as long as you possibly can. Dirk's daily rates are cheap! After you're done trophy hunting you can bait jackals from ground blinds, shoot doves and grouse, or take a drive to Swakomund for a few days.

06 Daily rate 1x1 is $165 Observers are $90

Trophy fees: 2005
Mountain Zebra 600 US$
Steenbok 250 US$
Springbok 350 US$
Warthog 316 US$
Caracal 150 US$
Eland 1450 US$
Impala (Common) 440 US$
Klipspringer 250 US$
Kudu 600 US$
Leopard 2500 US$
Oryx 400 US$
Hartebeest (Red) 435 US$
Osterich 450US$
Jackal Free of charge

My wife and I hunted and traveled for 21 days with Dirk and Rita last April. We had a great trip and are all ready planning a return trip in '07 to the Caprivi.

Open dates
April are still available May 1st – 6th, September 1-7. There are two 7-10 day opening in June and July that are being held that might become available. ( waiting for deposits )

March and October are available, but I do not recommend hunting at that time of year

God I wish I could have hunted with Dirk in June! I still dream about what it must be like to see huge kudu bulls in the rut coming out of the hills. Unless there is a huge drought, I know somebody is going to kill a 60" kudu on this ranch!
Good hunting.

Dirk has many contacts throughout Namibia, but I don’t think you will leave the ranch to hunt for Oryx. The Oryx on Dirks ranch are huge! In my hunt report there is a picture of a 46" Oryx ( number 3 or 4 in the all time record book) that was picked on the ranch last year. Hunters can expect to see Oryx bulls in the 37"-39" range. If you went at the right time of year, hunted a least 10 day, You could reasonably expect a shot at a 40" Oryx bull.

That doesn't seem very expensive for Leopard, does he have good success rates on the cats? Does he have a website. I am not in the market right now but his prices are so good I am setting his name aside for one to check when I am ready.

$165 1x1 for leopard is by far the best deal I know of ! You only pay a $2500 trophy if you are successful. If I were to guess Dirk averages 50% on leopard, You must remember most hunters are on plains game hunt with leopard being a bonus . If you were a serious leopard hunter, hunting 14-21 days during the best time of year. You could expect 75% success. Namibian leopard hunts are not cake walks! You will earn your leopard with many hours/days of setting in a blind.
Dirk only has a few week opening left in 06.
