When are the canned lions done?

Big Wonderful WyomingWhen are the canned lions done?
What is the cut off date for canned lion hunting?

Oryxhunter1983There isn't a cut off date, all that's changed is now...Phasa members aren't supposed to participate in them. You don't have to be a Phasa member to be a PH in RSA, so it really doesn't change anything for the consumer.

Big Wonderful WyomingOk, was thinking prices may drop. Doesn't appear as such.

PoyntmanI agree BWW...
I was talking to a friend today. I do think the price will come down..supply and demand.
There may well be a "Fire Sale" in the next couple of years I think if the market dries up meaning I believe
1) it's way less "politically correct" since the Cecil deal
2) less PH's participating in the practice which means less PH's selling/marketing them
3) the regulators here in the U.S. or Europe close the door on the import and the bottom will drop out.

Big Wonderful WyomingIf all the Euros shut the door it will leave NZ, the US and the Russians.
The Russians probably shoot the "lions share". So we'll se how things go.
Australia will be the next to fall, I am betting within the first 6 months of 2016. They get assinine over bear imports, I can't imagine how crazy it would be to do a lion.
Friends of mine had 18 months and $6500 importing 2 blackbear skins from Canada to Canberra.

INTREPID SAFARISGuys we can have another 10 page discussion on if it is right wrong morally correct ethical and and and... bottom line is ones the achieved that goal they will simply move the goal post and target another species. This is not good for hunting at all!!

Barry GroulxNo, it doesn't reallychange anything, but more hunters should support the associations like PHASA and SOAZ and NAPHA in countries where they exist, because there will generally be higher standards. If a PH doesn't want to support the association by becoming a member, that should tell us all something straight away.

I totally disagree. I can tell you, having been to the meetings for both Phas/Napha.
These organizations have their own inter-political issues at times between their members, and often personal agendas are moved forward. Choosing not to be in one of these organizations doesn't mean anything...that's like me accusing a hunter of being bad bc they aren't a SCI/DSC/HSC/NRA member.
It's ridiculous to think that because someone pays dues to some organization that it means they are of some higher regard.

Very true!
I would think the pygmy antelope would be on the next target list, that and giraffe.
