I just finished my dream hunt. Two weeks in Zimbabwe with PH's John Hunt and David Amyot.
I finally killed my Leopard and realized my lifelong dream.
While pondering it all, I came to realize how much I owe to Saeed for this forum. I found my outfitter, John Barth here, my ticket agent, and most of all, found answers to probably over 50 or so questions that I posted regarding my trip.
This forum has been a wealth of knowledge, and there are so many good people posting here. I check in here a few times a day, and feel connected to Africa because of AR.
So thank you Saeed for everything, and we should all take a minute to realize how important AR is in our lives.

Saeed has certainly a great service for us all whether we hunt or plink. I dreamed of a trip to Africa for many years but the expenses of sick family members just keeps that dream out of reach. Thanks to Saeed the dream still lives.

Are you kidding! For the same reasons above, Saeed will most likely be responsible for my financial ruin. Before AR, I was happy hunting quail 2 hours from my house, with the occasional wild boar hunt. Now, my new safe which was supposed to be large enough to last me a lifetime, is overflowing, I have outstanding taxidermy bills, and I'm stealing from my kid's piggy bank to help pay for my next safari in 2007.

Saeed, I think you owe me an apology jumping

Just kidding. Thanks Saeed! cheers

Tim,
I have the same addiction. My wife would likely shoot Saeed if she knew he was partly responsible for my financial ruin.

However, this is a bit like Rosie O'Donnell blaming McDonalds for her fatness....

As is so often the case... somewhere inbetween these "extremes" lies the ""truth."" But to be unaware of the excellence which Saeed brings to the international hunter/shooter community would be a gross injustice. Besides, the man is awesome with a camera or a T-Rex!

Lorenzo, what the wife thinks is something which will have a lesser effect as time goes by.

Wolfgar- Could you give us a little detail? Was the dog used to bay that Bush Pig?

Crane,
That dog was a monster! Called a Boar-Bull, this dog is named Shumba, which means Lion in Ndebele. While talking to the ranch owner after the day's hunt(pitch black)we heard a commotion coming from Mr.Brookman's garden. Shumba and 2 fox terriers had attacked this poor bush pig, and all three were fighting frantically. Shumba had a death grip on the pig's muzzle, and the terriers were biting it about the face. It was a whirling mess, as Mr.Brookman was yelling at me to shoot the pig, and NOT to hit the dog's!! I couldn't get a clear shot, so finally I just ran up on them and put my muzzle to the pig's side and fired a round into him at contact distance...Very exciting!
An awesome hunt, and I can't wait to go back!
The PH pictured is David Amyot, who works free-lance for John Hunt. A PH who defines the term "Professional Hunter" in every way. PM me if you would like to have contact info for John Hunt at Georgia Safaris.
The cat was my dream hunt/animal, and David got him for me on the 5th night!

The breed of dog is Boerboel . They look like a bullmastiff but are a different breed.

Congratulations on a great hunt!

Ret,
the cat was the most stunning sight I have ever seen in my life! I don't know what will ever even come close.

Thomas,
I was told that only SA military-type cammo is not alowed. John said no problem with US and US hunting type patterns. I had no problems what- so-ever.

Just to let you fellas know, I used a 7mmRemMag M70 with 160gr Accubonds for everything. Awesome performance...I recovered two bullets and they looked like the mushroom ad from Nosler. One bullet penetrated 3 feet of Wildebeast on a quartering away shot, the other from a Zebra. None of the other bullets were recovered, but did lots of damage and nice exit holes.

Nice cat! Congrats!

I have a close friend whose family I've stayed with many times in Bulawayo. They had a Boerboel named Shumba that they gave to someone on a ranch. If it's the same dog it was a favorite of mine and a beautiful dog.

Zim,
The owner of this Shumba is Mr.Brookman, from (I believe) West.Nickelson. I am thinking that the dog is 5,6,or 7 years old, but in prime condition.

Wolfgar,
My friend hunts in that area and it is probably the same dog. I never knew who they gave Shumba to just to a farm where he would have more room. My first hunt in Zimbabwe over 10 years ago was in the west Nicholson area. Took a nice Leopard there plus some plains game.Beautiful area. Have hunted that area several times.

I can't wait to go back! What a beautiful place and Leopard tracks are everywhere. Let's just hope that Mugabe dies and the next guy turns things around.
