I will appreciate recommendations on a good soft case. My present favorite is the "Kolpin Deluxe Soft Armor Gun Boot". It has two zippers to open from either end and is well padded. It holds my scoped shotgun nicely. Unfortunately, it is 52 inches long and will not fit in my Tuffpak. I called Kolpin and they do not make a shorter version. Kolpin's Scopetector is the right length but has only one zipper and is a bit wide. Thanks .............................................

I used a couple of the Uncle Mike's scoped rifle soft cases with the pocket on the side -- I removed the bolts and put them in the pockets. I also had some foam in the top and bottom of my Tuffpak and a jacket on the bottom and sweater on the top/wedged between the cases to make sure everything was padded and did not slide around. ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

I like the Cabela's heavy duck canvas soft cases, and they come in various lengths from 38" to 50". --- Eric Ching "The pen is mightier than the sword...except in a swordfight."

Allen works for me. Available in several sizes and well padded. Priced reasonably too. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Mad Dog floating gun case has worked for 3 years of hunting here in the bayou. You can usually find them for $19.99 on the web. They actually float too (don't ask). They are of a sock design with hook and loop fastener on one end and then buckeled at whatever length you need.

I've taken a couple Red Oxx cases to Africa and had no complains. But for everyday use I think Boyt is about as rugged as you can get within reason. The Red Oxx is significantly lighter than Boyt though. The Cabela's knock-off of the Boyt seems too light duty to me. Kyler

One reason I picked the Uncle Mike's is that Mims Reed, Tuffpak purveyor extraordinaire, suggested them for having thick foam to insulate rifles in transit. There are certainly nicer cases on the market. Caveat Emptor. I do not promise that your rifle will not be broken in one of these cases, I am just telling you what I did. Good luck. ------------------------------- Some Pictures from Namibia Some Pictures from Zimbabwe An Elephant Story

Unzip the barrel end and slip it into a rolled of pair of socks and bend back the gun case... Mike
