Back home. I had a great time and just as importantly, my wife did to. By the 4th day she wanted to hunt and did, taking a better impala than me. A link to some photos and comments is below. All I can say is that it exceded our expectations and we will be back as soon as possible. web page

Kevin, when you say your wife wanted to hunt...has she hunted before?

I've heard other people tell of having an observer who's never hunted before catching the bug in Africa. Just wonder if your wife did, too.

My gf has said she could never shoot anything, but I'd like to think she may change her mind. She's gone shooting with me and is interested in going again.

My ex-wife said the same thing, but after being out with me training a new Brittany, she offered that she "could probably shoot birds".

Congratulations Kevin! Well done, that's a very nice collection of trophies!

It's great when your wife goes along as an observer, and even better once she decides to participate as a huntress.

Beware though, Holly got the FEVER after she shot her first animal, a 300 pound black bear, in Quebec several years ago.

Since then she has taken 19 more animals in South Africa, Spain, Montana and most recently in Namibia.

It's great having your wife for a hunting buddy, but I've discovered that there are some drawbacks; your Trophy Fees and taxidermy bills are doubled, and you run out of wall space in the Trophy Room much faster!

Instead of fighting for the right to hang trophies in our home; I have to negotiate with Holly for wall space to hang mine!

Thanks for sharing the photos and congratulations once again on a great safari!

Thanks for the kind replies. My wife has never hunted before but I have had her out target shooting. She thought she might try it in africa and said she'd figure it out once she was there for a few days. Day 3 and at dinner she said she would like to take something. She got the impala the next day at 10 AM. We are going to do a pedestal of the impalas together which should show off the difference in markings very nicely.

Yes I'd say she is one of better looking drivers in RSA.

I put a rather extensive writeup on recovered bullets and performance in the post below asking about north forks too.
