Several of you have emailed me asking if I was going to have another group Bison hunt this fall and Dakota asked in a recent post about that also... I will if there is enough interest in it..Alan and Phil shoemaker and friends sure had a good time last year...I was in the hospital and missed it.. The hunts are $2750. and they sure are a lot of fun..Those Bulls are wild and smart...I personally would like to do it in November and skip tromping in two feet of snow in a blizzard for three days like Alan and the others did, but they loved it...Its about as good as a Bison hunt can get...the country is beatiful and the Lodge, food, and folks are excellent... If anyone is interested let me know and we could put something together, but need to move pretty quick to get a spot reserved for this year. I think we have a week in Nov. and almost a week in Oct. the last time I checked. I booked a number of these hunts on that last sale we had here on AR.

Ray, Is this Comstock Ranch? Please refresh me: What town in Nebraska is that closest to? Is that a trophy bull? Do I get to keep the hide, meat, and horns for that price? Is there butchering/meat processing included for that price or is it extra? Can I bring my buddy along as videographer/non-hunter and how much for his room and board? I am interested.

RIP, Yes, its comstock or Juniper ranch near Rexburg Idaho, depends on where everyone decides they would like to go.. Comstock is just out of Sargent, Nb. Trophy bulls and you get head, hide and meat..buffalo is hauled to town for you and left at the meat packer to cool and await your packaging instructions..You pay that, along with tips, and tax..I had them quarter mine, then bought 25 bags of ice and put on top of it in my pickup and drove home (1200 miles) and had my butcher process it, 820 lbs. of packaged meat..excellent quality. I think non hunter fees are $150 per day but I would need to double check on that..

If you do the hunt in Rexurg, ID I can put you in touch with a couple of the best butchers you have ever seen. They know how to cut and pack the right way and cater to hunters also. Nothing worse than a butcher who doesnt know how to butcher or care for game properly. Thats where I was born and have a ton of family still there. My folks live 30 miles north in Ashton.

Dang! This stuff always comes up after I am fully booked. Sorry I will have to miss this one. I don't have a bison yet. Let me know if you will be doing this in 2005.

TWO FEET OF SNOW!!!!!..........bugger that for a game of soldiers. I might have been quite keen on the idea if it was done in hot weather. Especially as the only bison I've ever seen (let along hunted) is a wash hand bison!

Ray, You have clearly described the attributes of the hunting at Comstock Lodge and we saw pictures posted of the hunt last winter. What can you say about the hunt at Juniper ranch? That is a little closer to my neck of the woods in the Pacific Northwest. Marv

Ray, sounds like a ball, but I am booked this fall. I'm in for next year though. I've always thought taking a bison w/ a big lever gun or Sharps would be perfect.

Ray: I may be interested, and would also like additional information about Juniper Ranch as it is a lot closer to home. Dave
