h kittle: I hope you get your horns back soon! I have scheduled them to dip and pack my trophies. I did order a gun case and had them make bookends out of my Zebra and Cape Buffalo feet. It looks like it took them 5 months to ship most of your trophies. Maybe I will have mine back by the end of February 2005. I will keep you posted. Regards, Rick L. Webb

Gentleman: I have posted this question on the taxidermy thread of this forum for two weeks with only minor comments. I would appreciate any feedback on the quality of work provided by Taxidermy Enterprises in Bulawayo Zimbabwe. My long time hunting friend and I experienced our first African Safari in September of 2004. I wish to preserve my trophies in the best possible manner. Your valued feed back would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Rick L. Webb

I used them in 2000 and was quite happy with the work. They did both my Zebra and Serval rugs and made me a briefcase from Kudu backhide. Very good work. I toured the facility and was impressed with what I saw there. DC300

I had a lot of taxidermy work done in 1999 by Taxidermy Enterprises in Bulawayo and it was of poor quality. I would never consider them for any taxidermy work. I know that others have had what they consider good work, but my experience was that their work is of poor quality. I contacted them and showed pictures of their work at the 2000 SCI Convention. Their only acknowledgement was that it was indeed not up to standard and that I could fix some of their shoddy work with a Marks-a-Lot felt pen. The rest could be repaired here in the United States at my cost. I have said it before, and I still stand on it, is that the only reason that you should run from Taxidermy Enterprises is that you can't fly!

I have not personally used them, but know some people who have and were not happy with the work. At all. In a few cases the eyes were not even from the correct animal! As in; preditor eyes mounted in an antilopes eye sockets. How is this possible? Did they work while they were drinking? This was the reason I didn't use them when hunting in Zim in '98, and instead sent my stuff home to be taken care of. Erik D.

If you only get negative feedback about Tax. Enterprises - consider Brett Enslin at Safariland Taxidermy in the same part of the world (Bulawayo)...he is one of the few that I know that is still in bizness...apart from Taxidermy Enterprises that is. I have only seen the work in their showroom and obviously that is all good, but maybe some people here have had work done by Brett?? If you really get stuck you are welcome to PM me and I can do some asking around for you. Good Luck!!

Sorry to hear others had a problem with these folks. The best bet is just to get them dipped and packed and use a taxidermist over here to be perfectly safe. You may spend a bit more but as usual, you get what you pay for. Good luck. DC300

I just had them dip and pack my trophies. What I am disappointed in not doing is have them make something out of backskins and the buffalo hide I have. They mixed up my order with another guys (the bill only which was corrected) and he had several rifle slips made from the buffalo hide. I thought what a great idea. Way to expensive to have that done when it gets back home.

I have some animals with them now that they have told me are ready to ship. I have asked a friend in Zim to go inspect the animals before I send the $. We will see. jim

HunterJim: Please let me know how they turned out. My thanks to all who responded I appreciate your feed back. They do make some fine gun cases and accessories I guess It's a roll of the dice on the mounting. Regards, Rick L. Webb

I used them in the early 90-ties - can't say I intend to repeat the experience. Maybe this is not fair, recounting experience a decade and more past. It is just that most (if not all) of the work they delivered was shoddy - right down to a skull mount remounted on a used shield with a visible screw hole... Not much to recommend after that experience, and no incentive to go back to see if their service had improved. FWIW - mike

mho: Thanks for the reply. I have decided to bring them back to the states for mounting based on several e-mails I received. I have located one of my old taxidermists I used 20 years ago who is still in business in California and doing great work. Good Hunting! Regards, Rick L. Webb
