Have just finished Richard Harlands book by the above title(also titled Guide to Ndlovu)
Fantastic-a must read for Africa hunting enthusiasts

Australia
I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of drought and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror
The wide brown land for me!

For your next read, try Ron Thomson's "Mahahoba" if you haven't already, it is also great.

(BTW, my spelling of the title is in question if you try to look for it.)

"Mahohboh" -- it is tricky to spell but luckily my copy is on the shelf in my office!

Yes, Richard's book is a must read for African Elephant hunters. Plus, he's a fantastic and down to earth gentleman in person, to boot!

Thompson's book isn't hard to find but it is expensive. I got a copy and would have never paid that much except I try to get as many books on that subject as possible. The cheapest copy I could find was $185 here in the States. Many of the copies are overseas. Unless you really want a copy for personal reasons, I wouldn't suggest spending that much for one. Richard's book is better in my opinion for much less money.

All of the above books are worth a read. You can pick up a little different perspective from each and each provides some tid bits of info not in the others. Probably Richard Harland's book provides the most com[plete info on elephant hunting in one place.

You can get it direct from Richard but he is out of pocket most of the time. You can also get it from Craig Boddington's website for $55.

That's right. I got mine for $185 several weeks ago. I didn't want to pay that much but it was the cheapest I could find by a good bit and the book was in excellent shape.

If you don't have Richard's book on his mentor, Paul Grobler, then you are really missing out on that. The title is African Epic and Safari Press carries it. I wish I could hear the audio tapes from those interviews.

Jack,

Rowland Ward Publications carry all three books - www.rowlandward.com or e-mail Lucinda Lorei at: rowlandward@wwdb.org

The prices are standard at RWP and Safari Press but I'm not sure if SP have stocks of Ndlovu at present.

Richard.

Icon needed for "STAR STRUCK"!

Richard Harland messaged me direct on this thread!

That's like as if when I was eighteen in '78,

Jimmy Page, the Led Zep guitarist sending ME a post card!

I gotta pick myself up off the floor now and try to

remember what it was that I wanted here. I can't wait to see what will happen next.
Maybe I am about to win a PAC elephant hunting safari or something! popcorn

Confused
Jack

For heaven's sake get off the coke, cordite, Jack Daniels or whatever has induced the temporary mental aberrations. Either cuddle a gal or hunt an elephant to resume normal function.

Yours aye,
Richard.

Clarification of situation:
After various queries from AR members, I've just checked with Ludo Wurfbain at Safari Press.
He is NOT stocking 'Ndlovu - The Art of Hunting the African Elephant'. He IS stocking 'The Hunting Imperative' and 'African Epic'.

'NDLOVU' is available from www.craigboddington.com (shipped ex Dallas, TX), and from www.rowlandward.com, shipping from Virginia. Price at both is $55.

Rowland Ward stock the other two books as they are the publishers. I think African Epic is $60 and The Hunting Imperative is $38.

Richard.

(I declare my interest - being author of the books!)

Look, Richard made a joke. clap

I have wondered why Safari Press doesn't carry Ndlovu as it is top notch. It's not like the hunting world is overloaded with elephant books. They do have Buzz's DVD and the other 2 books that Richard wrote.

Well, let's just say the explanation I was given holds as much water as a colander. No problem. Zimbos always "make a plan"!!

Maybe we should tell Ludo that we have been buying it elsewhere. I have personally spent...well, too much, with SP this month alone. I know Ludo reads here more than he posts.
