Well, Scotland is going to play the Sprinboks in the rugby and that can get pretty dangerous! No, nothing big going on other than some minor disturbances in the wine country.

There are some serious things going on in Mozambique, right next door.

What a lot of bull dust!!!!!!!!!

Mine workers, farm workers - ie black South Africans - are striking for higher wages. In the process these guys get very hot tempered and set vineyards, police cars, etc. alight.
That's it! No more no less.

This happens al over the world everyday of the year almost.

Lucky to get out alive!!! rotflmo

What a joke!!!

I'm always alert here in Roswell, NM - good ol USA. There are a few "bad dudes/dudettes" that will 'dust u up' for a few bucks. Read about them all the time in our local newspaper's "most wanted section". My experience in RSA is similar. I pay attention and avoid bad scenes. Never felt threatened using this philosophy. I will go back in a heartbeat.

Yea Poncho, it's even worse there in Roswell because you have Martians and little green space creatures to worry about. I don't even know if Zombie bullets will take out space creatures.

Hi Guys, there has been some protesting in some areas. Mainly service delivery protests. Tyre burning, vandalism and opportunist theft. The ANC is choosing new leadership soon and the masses are showing their unhappiness with the empty promises. The protests seem to be directed at the government and ANC leaders and not towards the man on the street. They want to be seen and heard and many want to show the Zuma crowd they want delivery of services etc. Lets hope it stays at that and trust your outfitter to keep you clear of a protest.

Dear All

We went through the middle of it a few months ago.
You could see all the striking workers on the side the road.

You can find trouble any where. Euro, Aus, USA I would not go out in RSA at night unless I had a plan and a trial run prior.

But you know you can go to the US, sanfran and the police tell you not to walk up that street because you are W_ -_-. So like I say you can find trouble any where the key is to work out where the trouble can be and stay clear of it.

By the way if you study the risk driving is the worst in any part of the world.

So lets not drive!!!

Regards Mark

We left a day early because of the transport strike and some of the classy strikers lighting a truck on fire at one of the entrances to ORTambo. We didn't necessarily feel threatened but weren't sure of the fuel situation as there were rumors of fuel shortages appearing in Joberg. So we flew from Bloemfontein to Joberg vs. driving in from Hoopstad.
