Hippos Destroy a House in Kaliweque

Katchiungo — Hippos destroyed on Friday a two bedroom house in Kaliweque, 25 miles north of Katchiungo, central highland Huambo province, while looking for food in nearby farms, the traditional chief of the village told Angop today.

According to Eurico Adriano the beasts destroyed the house as they were being shooed away by villagers and dogs, leaving one family homeless.

The Kaliweque traditional chief stated that hippos have destroyed this year 30 farms of maize, cassava trees and greens, a situation that worries the villagers.
