Frederick AKA Safari-Hunt:

You are my agent....But the outfitter and PH and Taxidermist have let me down. Now I am worried if I will ever see my animals or my money again.

I have not had My email or messages returned for several weeks.

I hate to bring this out in a public forum but I have had the fees for these animals paid for 4 MONTHS NOW!!! He needs to send the amimals. I have emailed Valie and he won't even retun my email. This is not accecptable. I get done over with the first hunt ( The cape buffalo) cancelled. I get a so-so hunt in the Karoo to replace it. Now, The taxidermist says herman has not done the paper work. The least you think Herman and Valie would do is make sure I get My animals.

I am going to be out of town for a few days....I pray to god this is fixed by the time I get back.

Herman and Valie need to get the paper work fixed and get those animals on the plane.... I am not going to be understanding much longer!

Urdubob,

Ok here is the story just spoke to Valie. Yes Herman was a bit slow on the paperwork true that I found out. The taxidermist only picked up all the permits two weeks ago from them. The taxidermist was also away taking out clients but Valie got hold of him and the permits and paperwork is 100 %. According to the taxidermist the trophies should be shipped this week still. He will e-mail you tonight he said.

I will be away from Friday Hunting with CChunter only returning back on the 13th and will check my e-mail again on the 14th.

Will send you an e-mail as well.

Cheers

Is all this angst on a public forum just over a wait of a mere 4 months for a taxidermist?

I think he also said in his post above that he will be in the bush from today for a week or so. Unless you are lucky and he checks in, you may just have to wait a week more.

and the fact the guy said he would be out until the 14th doesn't seem to be a determining factor either.

Patience is a necessary virtue when dealing with taxidermists and gunsmiths, especially when the former is overseas.

How about this....

I hunted in Namibia in June last year.

My trophies arrived at Safari Taxidermy in South Africa last week (1 year).

I have asked them to mount three of the trophies (zebra rug, warthog, steenbuck) and just ship the others here (kudu, gemsbok, springbok, and especially my leopard for a full mount).

They say they will have them mounted in 8 - 10 months.

Then they will ship them, and I will get them to my taxidermist who will take another 6 - 8 months!

Now tell me about patience!

Rick.

This is what I am talking about ..no contact from the PH, Outfitter or taxidermist.

I Know some of you will jump my ass over this.

a)You do what you say when you are in business.

b)When you don't.... you piss people off.

c)Remember, how you would feel if it was your Money and no one gave you an update for 2 months and your e-mail was ignored.

*************News flash! its been a week and nothing in my email about my animals.**************

Hell yes, I am Mad

Well,
I like Frederick .
1)The outfitter he booked for screwed me out of my buffalo.
2) I got some half assed hunt that would have cost me about half anywere else. (My nine day hunt consisted of driving for 5 days and hunting for 4days . The one place we stayed for two night was little more than a ceament shack).
3) frederick has been aware of the problem for two weeks now...he has done nothing

I would suggest that you remove your post from AR or I will be forced to fuck over frederick so bad that he will never book a hunt again.

Please remember if I ever post all the details of this hunt he would never show up on any web site ever...I am trying to help him.

Jay"

Let's let this one cool down.

Urdubob is justifiably upset about having been mistreated and cheated.

Let's see if his agent can at least try to get the taxidermy on track.

The above issues are certainly bad and you have justifiable reason to be upset, but regarding your animals--in 4 months? Don't even dream it! That part you don't have room to be upset about yet, not for quite some time yet.

I just Had Euro-mounts and skins.

Taxidermist says they are done.

The PH/ outfitter will not fill out the paper work.

The Taxdermist said they have been ready to ship for four months.

When they wont respond to request for an update.

FWIW, I was the other hunter on the disappearing Buffalo hunt that Safari-hunt (Frederick, et al) offered on AR initially. I elected NOT to go on the replacement plains game hunt. The whole deal was getting fisher and fisher. The replacement plains game hunt was not a bargain and seemed cobbled together. It apparently was. I had $2500 on deposit IN AFRICA plus some other expenses up front. I was VERY seriously concerned about getting that money back. Urdubob, since he elected to go on the replacement hunt due to his time slots available, VOLUNTEERED to personally refund my deposits and expenses and to use them against his upcoming hunt costs/trophy fees. HE DID EXACTLY WHAT HE SAID HE WOULD DO. This is the hunt Urdubob is referring to above. It occurred just over a year ago.

I think he lost his cool in the above email and should apologize. It obviously should not have been written or sent. But IMO he is a man of his word and I would go on a hunt with him in a minute.

Urdubob

I received the same email. I have replied on the email as I think only in final stages should these disputes be aired on public. It doesn't always help at all.

If email is not working to the taxidermist try the telephone.

I remember the buff hunt fell through and a plains game hunt was offered as a substitute. I think being "screwed" is a bit too much.

You may well have real grievances from the sound of it but I thought the timing of a new complaining post on the day Safari-Hunt says he was going to be away for a week was a bit off. Give the bloke a fair chance to reply. He is not the taxidermist only the middleman.

Maybe this issue can be put on hold for a week or so, so Frederik can get back, follow-up and answer it himself.

Many of us have had to wait for more than a year for simple dip and packs too. I hope it will work out for you soon.

Good luck.

Urdubob,

Could I please get confirmation if you did receive the trophies ? Trying to track down your trophy shipment at the airport is a nightmare spoken to over a dozen of people all of them passing me to other persons because they are just to lazy to check the records.

Anyway this is what I got from the taxidermist the trophies were sent the 24th of June Flight SA211 to ATL and from there on a local flight or trip to Nashville your waiver no. for the trophies packed are 083 0665 2682

Could you please confirm recieving the trophies and if the trophies are not even in the States I would like to take up legal action against the taxidermist and the outfitter. (For bullshitting in first place)

Needless to say I will not use the outfitter again in future neither the taxidermist as it seems that communication to the client is the last thing on their mind.
