I have a 2 week Bongo Hunt in Cameroon, 1 hunter, starting July 3rd from Douala and return July 18, 2005. Normal price is U.S.$33000 1x1 for day rates and charters (which are quite expensive) U.S.$18000 due plus trophy fees in Euros. You can hunt Bongo, dwarf forest buff, forest elephant, sitatunga, giant forest hog, red river hog, yellow back duiker plus many other duikers as well. There is some other expense for license and trophy care in Euros as well. Success has been at 100% on Bongo. If anyone is truly interested send me an e-mail to keith@atcheson.com and I'll give all detail or call me @ 406-782-2382. Pretty hard to beat this price. Someone ought to jump on this one. I found it quite attractive. So much so that we are going to. A dream come true.

Keith, Am I reading this correctly...that the "new hunter" gets the benefit of a $15k deposit? Mike Legistine actu quod scripsi? Never under estimate the internet community's ability to reply to your post with their personal rant about their tangentially related, single occurrence issue. What I have learned on AR, since 2001: 1. The proper answer to: Where is the best place in town to get a steak dinner? is…You should go to Mel's Diner and get the fried chicken. 2. Big game animals can tell the difference between .015 of an inch in diameter, 15 grains of bullet weight, and 150 fps. 3. There is a difference in the performance of two identical projectiles launched at the same velocity if they came from different cartridges. 4. While a double rifle is the perfect DGR, every 375HH bolt gun needs to be modified to carry at least 5 down. 5. While a floor plate and detachable box magazine both use a mechanical latch, only the floor plate latch is reliable. Disregard the fact that every modern military rifle uses a detachable box magazine. 6. The Remington 700 is unreliable regardless of the fact it is the basis of the USMC M40 sniper rifle for 40+ years with no changes to the receiver or extractor and is the choice of more military and law enforcement sniper units than any other rifle. 7. PF actions are not suitable for a DGR and it is irrelevant that the M1, M14, M16, & AK47 which were designed for hunting men that can shoot back are all PF actions. 8. 95 deg F in Africa is different than 95 deg F in TX or CA and that is why you must worry about ammunition temperature in Africa (even though most safaris take place in winter) but not in TX or in CA. 9. A well hit animal can run 75 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail, but the one I shot from 200 yds. away that ran 10 yds. and disappeared into a thicket and was not found was lost because the bullet penciled thru. I am 100% certain of this even though I have no physical evidence. 13. Mike, Even though John the Greek is a "liberal college Professor". I can assure you he is a good guy. I spent a few days with him in Salt Lake City in 2003. Now I am about as Right Wing as you can get, [you know where I work], yet I found John a very good guy to be around. We had a good time. When I retire I plan on doing some duck hunting in Egypt with him. He might not be as "Left Wing" as he lets on. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Kieth, Have you thought about having your bongo hunt videoed. Ian Lewis of www.safarivideos.com has videoed several bongo hunts. his work is first rate. He videoed my 2004 hunt and will video all of my future Safaris, starting with March 2006. PS Give my best to your wife, I hope she is doing well. Your PH was in my camp a couple of days after ya'll's buff incident. he had nothing but High Praise for you and your wife. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

Mike, I see you know him better than I thought. Still for those of you that do not know him, he is a good guy to be around. As is Aleko of Heritage Arms in Salt Lake City. The first time I met them they both treated me like family. As a matter of fact ALL the people from AR that I have met in the flesh have been Top Drawer. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

That is quite a deal. Not that I could get the time off at the moment but what are the trophy fees on a hunt like this? I would like to have some idea for future planning. Happiness is a warm gun

Keith, Just out of interest, why are the hunting and rifle permits charges not included in teh original price? I would have thought as they were required for the hunt, it might have been a better idea to include them

Saeed, We are going to use weapons provided by the operator. Not my favorite choice but we are assured of 4 fine rifles, scoped, shot guns etc..........and ammo. But to answer you question the fee is charged when the cameroon visa is done. The two items total approx E250 each person But we are going with out our own guns since we are so close. Saeed, perhaps you need to join us and help wage war on our enemy? Buffalo

Keith, I would love nothing better my friend. But, I get relatively little time off, and that I like to spend it chasing buffalo - lots of them. One day I might take a few months off, and just go hunting from one country to another.
