Just arrived back in Harare from 14 days in Makuti, catch a flight out in the moring. Quick report:

- Shot a 65+ pounds one tusker in Nyamuswa. Ivory measured 6'9" inches and was 18.5" at the lip. Spectacular elephant bull. The day before we shot the bull we saw a group of 25 elephant bulls in a single group and had to climb an ant hill to avoid being stomped.

- Shot two cows, including one that was in a full charge that we turned at 5 paces with two taps from the .500 Krieghoff and one from Buzz's .416 Rigby. Entire incident lasted less than five seconds but seemed like an eternity. I cannot say enough about using enough gun when chasing dangerous game in thick brush at close range. No mock charge, she was out for blood and having a big double was critical.

Charging Cow:

- Shot two buffalo, including a wonderful 40" dugga boy with 15" bosses, worn down horn tips, smooth bosses, large body. Used the .500 double and shot the buffalo in thick bush at 20 yards. It is a marvelous trophy, big, wide, smooth and worn.

Small Buff:

Big Buff:

- Weather was hot. Some days very hot, I mean really hot. We had rain only one day and hunted right through the rain. Otherwise, the showers spared us. Brush was thick and green. Lots of pans and many of the rivers and creeks were flowing. Insects were out in full force particularly the damn teste flies. I look like I have the measles.

More later with pictures, but it was a great hunt. Thanks as always to Buzz, Justin, Criton, Eddy, Kirsty and the rest of the Charlton McCallum team. As always, they did an outstanding job.

Alright Mike! A 65 pounder!!!! Way to go... looks like the wait was worth it my friend!

On shooting a One Tusker....

I was asked if I would do that by one of my PH's....

I was reminded of something I read somewhere, by, if I remember, was stated by an Italian client, when he was asked about it.

He said "I would rather have one Ferrari, than two Fiats"...

As always I told the PH, if you see something you think I should shoot just say SHOOT.

WELL DONE.

Just for you Bill on the last buffalo I hunted in Tevas. I thought about cutting the sleeves off my shirt too but thought that might be going too far.

Sun block gloves. Taking doxy for malaria in December in Zim is not a smart idea.
