Waterfowl season in States----not that I like too but my Lab would bite me if he didn't get to hunt.
Anyway, some of this may be old news as I didn't try to catch up.
Heard from David Amyot yesterday. Contrary to a post a few months ago, he is still in the businees and chasing Buffalo in the Zambezi Valley and Eland in flatter ground near Beitbridge. Been quite hectic for him as he has welcomed a son to the world to join his four year old daughter and has been supporting Vivienne in setting up her own business in Adhesives.
Got to visit a good while with John Greeff at Wes Hixon's annual Open House. Unfortunately, his airline reservations to this area got messed up and they did not get here soon enought to spend the night with me. He has his strength back and has already conducted a Safari! Nerve damage still affecting him but Docs say it can be improved. Ear has stopped up again but it too should be repairable.
Dusty is back in the bush with his middle toe and half of the toe next to his little toe missing.
John, Vickie and Dustin again offer their thanks for all who have supported them.

Thanks for the report. How was your bird season?

We seldom get to choose
But I've seen them go both ways
And I would rather go out in a blaze of glory
Than to slowly rot away!

Been some years better, some worse!
SE LA, marshes out of Venice was spotty at best---one day five man limits, next day only one or two birds. Similar on my SE MO lease which froze up early and the weird Arkansas weather.
My Lab only picked up around 200 ducks and 25 geese this year. But he still had fun!

BTW, got to see old friend Peter Chipman, Kwalata Safaris, Zambia at Wes's open house also. He has added a couple of areas to his Lower Lupande concession and now covers everything Zambia has to offer.

Do you know Brian Warner, call maker extrodinaire? Heirloom game calls, just a stones throw from you in Haughton?

Hey Tom, would you please PM me with David Amyot's current professional particulars. I, for one, was told that he was out of the safari business by another PH that he had worked with. Now that I know that he is not, I would like to contact him about a hunt. Glad to hear that he has welcomed a son and that Vivienne and their daughter are also doing fine. Thanks.

That he is! I shot a 59 1/2" Kudu with him and a great Sharpes Grysbok, while he was filling in for another PH of mine who had a family emergency spring up in the middle of one of my Zimbabwe hunts a few years ago. Here's a photo of the two of us with the Kudu:

Great Kudu!
Just got another note frrom David---he was out of the industry in 2009. He was supposed to work with an outfitter named Tim Schultz but he kept cancelling David until he had to do a sales job in Bulawayo. He is now back working with Gary Hopkins mainly doing Buffalo and Leopard.

Thanks for the additional info. I believe that was the time period that my PH had referred to regarding David being "out of the business". Big Grin
