I am surrounded by warrior women that don’t hunt.

Go figure.

My old hunting/hiking partner could easily out climb most men. In fact the only person that gave her any competition was another friend who's a mountaineering guide that does McKinley each year and has summited Everest twice.

She was interested mostly in deer hunting and taken some nice ones through the years but puts up with my black bear and elk trips. We also hiked, backpacked and snowshoed several times a month for a number of years. Our favorite thing was to look for old abandoned trails, cabin and lookout sites.

She is not the quiet retiring type rather she's in your face and can swear with the best of them, kind of the opposite of me. At times she drove me crazy but I would give just about anything to spend just one more day in the mountains with her. She passed away from cancer 12 years ago and I've never really had another hunting partner since then.

I saw him in the mirror today.
He went on a guided wilderness horseback hunt when 71 years old. Handn't been on a horse in over twenty years.
Spent from 5am till 8pm up on the horses (less 1 hour for lunch) climbing through Wyoming mountains.
He complained but never gave in to the difficulty and didn't ever quit.

My wife had been with me on several south Africa hunts and to new Zealand. she is not a hunter but enjoys being along. She I and another couple went to Victoria falls before going to the delta in Botswana to hunt. While in Victoria falls she fell and said she hurt her wrist . the next morning we took her to a " hospital" the ex rayed it and said it was only a sprain. so with an ace bandage on it we were off for a 14 day hunt in the delta. she did it all But every evening anound the fire she would complain about how her wrist hurt and as the sundowners went down I would tell her to TOUGHEN UP! well we got home and 4 days after that she was still complaining so she went to the doctor and long story short they operated the next morning and put 2 rods and screws in it . that was 10 years ago and in January we had our 38 anniversy. but when I have stuff like my rotator cuff done as I will next month you had better believe I will be told to toughen up if I complain. not by her but by all my hunting buddies that know the story.
