Does any body know about the 100 % duties charged on mounted trophies imported into the USA?

If this is true, then getting taxidery done overseas would be very expensive.

I brought five mounted heads and a zebra skin rug into the U.S.A. (From SA) about seven months ago. I don't think there was any particular "Duty" on them, certainly not 100%

Sports hunted game trophies are 100% DUTY FREE!! Most merchandise (non trophy items) from Africa are duty free as well but anytime they are combined with hunting trophies, the declaration to customs require a customs bond (estimated minimum charge by a broker is around $65) and customs assessed a merchandise processing fee of $2 or $25 depending on declared shipment value.
