As some of you know, my wife and I have been waiting for a new family member to "pop" out! And today she decided to do just that! She weighs 2930 grams, and is 48 cm long. She was considerate enough to arrive only a few days ahead of schedule since being fashionably late is not appreciated here in Norway! I have to admit that it was a moving moment when she arrived after a few hours of labor. And even my eyes were a bit moist! It was quite an experiance being there from start to finish.
Both mother and child are in good health, and in a few years time she will undoubtably turn into a hunter just like both her parents!

My daughter just turn 19 I just had her down to collage to get her class's. The first thing she did was to figure out how much time she has off for deer season.
Good luck in raising her girls do and can make great hunters and shooters.

Congratulations. You are blessed. My first was a girl 23 years ago. She is a 50/50 mix of her ma and pa and has been quite interesting to say the least. Those baby girls just keep getting more interesting the older they get too. One day you will be fortunate enough to get her married off. I recommend the technigue for meeting suitors as follows:
Sit in the parlor and act like you are cleaning/oiling a side-by-side double barreled shotgun, while reading the Bible. Have the suitor ushered in to meet you while you appear to be killing time this way.

Congratulations, Eric. Believe me, it won't be long until you have the boys surrounding your house as I do now with my 15 year-old. A friend gave me some advice. He said go ahead and be mean to the boys. Said your daughter will understand later. He said it's similar to why a farmer does not let the farm animals become his pets...You might have to kill them later on.....

Good work Eric! Good advice above on dealing with the boys in a few short years. When I visited home from the military my dad would let me take over the job of scaring my youngest sister's boyfriends away. He was a good (and generous) man, eh? A friend of mine does it another way. Before the boy can date his daughter he has to eat an evening meal with the whole family. If he does not have manners - get lost. Then, before he can take the daughter out alone he has to do something with the whole family, like go to church or the range (did I repeat myself there?). Finally, he only allows her one new boyfriend every six months, so she must choose carefully. She says her dad is mean now, but I think she will only accept respect and good treatment when she is out of the nest in a few years. Congratulations, JCN PS You will not get to sleep through the whole night for the next several months.

Congratulations but it isn't only the boys you need to watch out for as before my sons were married it was a constant stream of girls calling them, dropping them notes, etc.
The girls don't wait for the boys anymore.

Erik: I forgot to ask, how long in Norway before you start feeding your kids lutafisk and lefsa (apologize for the spelling)? My mother is passing on the lefsa making process to my oldest daughter. Its wonderful to watch. Gary T.
Congratulations Erik, to you and your wife. My daughter will be 11 next month. Little girls do love their dads - sometimes though it seems to slip their mind. All the best to you and your growing family. Forrest Bruch

Congratulations!!!! Daughters bring a special joy that only fathers can ever know. A love that has never been more pure and happinees that knows no bounds. Enjoy forever more.
Thanks guys, I appreciate your thoughts and support! Interesting times are ahead for our family, that's for sure!
As to eating "Lefse" and Lutefisk"; as soon as possible is the only correct answer I guess! I'm amazed to hear that you guys are making lefse over in the US! It's good stuff. I usually smear a bit of butter on one, combined with a smear of colemans mustard (the hot stuff), and then put a generous slab of cocked ham on it before rolling it up into a handy sausage shape. Yummy! It's also good with Rakefisk, the fermented trout that few foreigners like... An aquired taste I suppose....
All these foods will of course be slowly brought into Cathrines diet, so she will turn into a true Norwegian viking princess!
Btw, the shotgun is already being oiled, in waiting for the inevitable boys that will soon be lurking around!
