This is a bull taken a few days ago by Zambezi Hunters on the Save. The Save is fast becoming the best buffalo hunting in Zimbabwe.

mbb,

Technically not high fenced as the southern fence is "Down" and the area is 850,000 acres with no interior fencing thus making the fence irrelevant in my opinion.

Mark,

Are you trying to talk me out of Tanzania for a lion hunt? The Save looks pretty hard to beat. If only Uncle Bob will kick the bucket!

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

I would agree that the SAVE is a great buffalo area.

It is a great plainsgame area as well. It is one of my most favorite places to hunt in Zim.

The Perimeter fence is more to keep stuff out than keep stuff in.

He'll do. Wink Big Grin Nice deep curl.

The Save is high fenced just like the Grand Canyon is high fenced.

I would hunt there without the slightest qualm.

Congrats to the lucky hunter!

that first one is ok but the old dugga boy........now to me, that perfectly describes the pursuit of such beasts. Everytime I go out in search of a buff, I hope and pray I come across one like that. dancing thumb

Mark, This buff is a nice old boy, the first one you showed us is wide but too young IMO soft on the fronts so he's probably not over 6 years old.

I gave my opinion on the buff which is correct, he's not that old of a buff, yes he'll score high in SCI but I am an anybody who would not shoot him and let him go about satisfying the ladies for a few more years. Big Grin Mark, thanks again for showing us the buff, what a gene pool in the Save.

The Save Biologist, came and aged both of these buff, If I remember correctly he aged the first one at 7 years and the second one at 11- he said without his reference set of jaws that that was his best guess at ages on them.

FYI the second buff has 16" bosses and was 42" wide.
