Classic springbok
Classic springbok
I think the springbok is a very under-rated, beutiful little antilope, and there is a reason it was chosen as RSA's national animal. we hunted this one earlier in the week, and it reminded me how pretty they where. What do you think of the pose?

Die Ou JagterMy my I thought measurements were unimportant that is to some who post here.

Seriously very nice Sspringbok.
I love the springbucks as well, and think they're underestimated. Great photo and great pose!
Here's my collection of springbuck trophies.. Just for bragging. Hope you like them. Sorry for hijacking..

Kalahari springbuck
Cape springbuck
Black springbuck
White springbuck

DesertRamI like springbok so much that they're the only African big game animal I've yet to shoot more of than one. I've killed three, and would happily go back for more. They remind me very much of our own North American pronghorn, which I also truly love to hunt.
As to the pose in the photo, I had one done very similar to that with my first one, so I have to say I like it!

Frank MartinezI liked this one. Not super big but unique, and not 10 minutes after asking
my PH if the horns ever did this.
Frank
Karl: I really like that type of pose. They have such a classic and pretty face, that you need some close-ups of the head from the side. Also gives a better idea of the true length and mass of the bases.
I like mine; it originally went in the book at about #10.
My favorite pose with a bok.

David CulpepperSpringbok was my first African animal. Of course now I am hooked on hunting Africa, springbok just kicked off an expensive addiction.
Good Hunting,

Die Ou JagterUEG, I assume the GS includes the "Copper" color phase. Is it a Super slam when one also included the Kalahari SB? Nice "goats" like the Pronghorn.

MARK H. YOUNGVaughn,
Nice collection of springbok and you definitely are safari chic with the cartridges in the shirt etc.
Hopefully I'll be able to post pix of a good springbok later this year after hunitng Botswana with Clive Eaton. The one I shot in Namibia in '96 was sort of a dink.
I agree that springbok are very beautiful, unique litte animals and definitely underrated as a trophy.

Use Enough GunMark: Thanks, and good luck on Springbok later on this year. Shoot a big one. Those are African Hunter Magazine shirts that have the cartridge/shell holders over the left pocket. DOJ: I believe that the Super Slam would include the Kalahari as well, whereas the Grand Slam includes the White, Golden(Copper), Black and Common. At least, that is my understanding.

L. David KeithMy first African animal and it remains one of my all time favorite PG animals to hunt. The meat is fantastic and they are fun to hunt if you do it on foot. They will decoy and find some rutting rams and a good time will be had by all...except the Springbok

I'm going to want a couple of Kalahari's Karl.

David

Karl 15 3/8th's, i shot it two years ago in Boshoff close to Kimberly, messed up the mount as it was a suspect shot behind the ear, and when i grabbed the horns the ram came to life, i had to use my knife on its neck, there wasn't any other way to do it as the rifle was resting(after being made safe) on a tree twenty yards off and my cousin was rolling on the floor with laughter. i am hoping to hunt another big springbuck this year and have a nice mount done on it

L. David KeithUEG, if I hunted only Bok's in Namibia, that would be ok with me. I guess I'm so hooked on hunting our Pronghorn that this illness just came natural. I'm rebuilding my .223 700 VS Remington just for this undertaking.
Maybe some of us could consider an AR Springbok hunt in the Kalihari? Take a few days to hunt trophy Springbok and then go about our separate ways. Just a thought.

Charl, and other that might be interested, we can do a sort of social event springbok shoot in Namibia's Kalahari. If the event are attended by 8 or so hunters, we can do it very cheaply, and to use Andrew's words, at cost covering costs. Who would be interested in such a hunt?
