It seems like this topic is now closed! Any explanation from the moderator or Saeed or do we not warrant one? Just asking. It seems to me that links to previous threads only work if the thread is still there and has not been modified. As I recollect 500Grains stated that Ray had gone back and modified his posts. I did not check this, but if this is so, it negates the value of posting links to previous threads.
Maybe I won't be allowed to look at Private Messages as a result of this post?

Peter,
I am no expert on this mess, but the thread is heading into hundreds of directions and serves no value to the hunting fraternity.

I support Saeed in locking the thread as he (and others) saw first hand how the PVT-Ray-Sheephunter thread consumed this website for several weeks.

Most who read the thread or threads on these topics have no first hand information and merely share opinions on issues that do not serve the hunting public.

I am all for free speech, but these threads do nothing but cause harm at this point. Hunters, truly seeking information on where to go and who to go with, all know what they need to know about PVT or Ray or others they are investigating.

In reality, I cannot imagine someone spending thousands of dollars on a trip to Africa or wherever without thoroughly checking references, meeting the agent and PH at a show or his office and understanding every detail prior to handing over a deposit. To trust a blind reference gotten off the internet or a site such as this has more risk than I am willing to take. Everyone on this website and others has an "internet personality" that is different from what you may see in person.

With all of that said - the goal of this website is to share information about reloading, shooting, hunting and other issues. It is not to run down people, take blind shots at a person's character or to engage in "flaming wars". We have seen many infamous trolls come and go on AR - so, let this die and let's get onto something more productive - like planning the next trip....

I don't like what happened to SH as much as the next guy.

Simply providing a link and saying "read this too" as information for the hunter to make his own decision is the right thing to do.

But that is not where it stops. There are about 5 guys on this board that revel these situations. Their words go beyond the informative stage. There becomes some sort of agenda that no one that regulary reads this board can understand.

It is obvious that certain people take joy in arguing, proving someone else is a dumbass, or playing a role as the trial judge.

It really makes this board hard to enjoy.

I have never hunted with the oufit in question and could care less execpt for my own personal info for future decisions.

So, I was really interested in Round 1 of the SH ordeal until about page 9 where it became obvious that agendas where attached.

Those agendas continue to carrying over into threads still today.

Any thread originator can ask the administrators to lock, or presumably, delete a thread that they started.

The moderators sometimes move threads to other more appropriate forums.

MacD37 has stated elsewhere that he asked that the thread he started be closed.

LHowell, that wasn't to censor anything, just to have all the eggs in one basket, instead of two! I saw no reason for both strings which said essentially the same thing! However, I have no idea what happened to the origenal string!

MacD37,

Please don't take my post as criticism.

I absolutely agree with your choice to close out that thread!

I was merely trying to explain what might have happened to those that were wondering.

The ability to close a "thread gone wild" is quite handy and appropriate when the grumblers here hijack ones post!

I suppose the thread on Capebuff has been locked as the reply tab is no longer there.I also guess that is just as well because I hear that some have been threatened with banishment if they comment further on PVT and Ray.What is this forum coming to now? What I loved about it most was the lack of censorship and now it seems that policy is no longer in play.

We seldom get to choose
But I've seen them go both ways
And I would rather go out in a blaze of glory
Than to slowly rot away!

There should be a full screen version of that avatar - when one of these threads starts down the toilet somebody just post that and everybody forgets what they were fighting about.
