Ah, to be sitting on the veranda sipping a gin and tonic and watching the mist rise from the falls...after a good hunt of course.

The Victoria Falls Hotel just reeks of Old African and that bygone Colonial Era. I was very happy to see during my visit this last August that the hotel was once again its shiny self. In '07 when I was last in Victoria Falls everything looked dilapidated. Now its obvious that things are much better and people are investing millions in the tourist industry in the area.

I have a photo somewhere of this guys' predecessor that I took in 1983 when I stayed at the Vic Falls Hotel on my first trip to Zimbabwe. There was scarcely a square inch on his jacket that did not have a pin or button on it. It must have weighed 75-80 pounds. Looks like this fellow is well on his way with his collection.

My Vic Falls Hotel experience is one of my wife's and my most memorable experiences. Especially our concierge John. Probably the most kind and attentive person I have ever had the pleasure associate with. That pic is not of John, but I recognized the venue immediately.

That is the bell captain at the old Vic Falls Hotel. I have his card at home with his name on it. He asked me to send him a pin from Las Vegas last September when Bwanna and I were staying there! I've got a pin somewhere that is two flashing dice! I am sure that it would really add to his coat! LOL!
