Many of us knew Fred Huntington's successful RCBS die and loading tool company that most of us have used for decades with great success. After Fred sold the company, he started a retail Die and ammo/brass specialty company in Oroville, CA. His family has carried on the business for many more decades. It seems that their major close out sale is signaling the end of an Era in the reloading business for the Huntington family and employees. The indication is they will be closing by October. This has been the Go To supplier for big dangerous game cartridge dies, brass and bullets, as well as equipment. It is surprising to me this great business is not being sold to a next generation supplier to our circle of hunters??!! What an opportunity for a knowledgeable entrepreneur!! I have been stocking up on brass and bullets while supplies last.. don't wait too long or you will be Huntin for a new specialty supplier!! Wishing the family and employees all the best and Thank You for being the backbone of our big bore pursuits for so many decades!! Check their website- 470EDDY

Very sad to hear. I got introduced to Fred by Steve Vogel, who was in charge of Ruger, and married to Bill Rugers daughter. Met him in his shop - he was always busy doing something!

I ordered a couple of books from them including the Woodleigh Bullets Loading Manual. Not only was it in stock, but it was discounted. Spoke to a nice lady who called to get my credit card info. She said their last day would be in October. She also said the owner, and I assume it was Fred, was 87.

I simply can't believe that some enterprising entrepreneurs haven't snapped up this fine business??!! The shop and inventory could be moved anywhere!! They have some key US Distributorships as well!! Yes, that would be Fred Jr. Brother Buzz passed some years ago. What a great family!! Fred was quite a hunter, and flew his own Beech Bonanza... 470EDDY

Thanks for the Heads Up about this. I live just 90 minutes from Huntington’s so I’ll have to swing by and see what they have that I might need. I used to enjoy wandering through the store, which is next door to the die shop. Fred had a really interesting collection of mounts and especially, photos of Jack O’Connor, Elmer Kieth, Jim Carmichael and others. Years ago, my great uncle was Fred Sr’s. personal physician. He was almost as big of a gun nut as Fred, had a collection with around 400 firearms IIRC.
