Well, here's the web site address http://www.groovebullets.com/

but I noticed this on the home page:

The Groove Bullets web site is currently undergoing maintenance.
We are not accepting any new orders at this time.

Maybe someone else has more info about this???

The Groove bullets took off at a MUCH faster rate than Don expected. He reached a point where he could not keep filling orders in a timely fashion without making some upgrades to his operation. Rather than start getting into a back order situation or "they are in the mail" situation like some companies have, he just stopped accepting new orders for a while until he could fill all existing orders and get geared up for more production. I am looking forward to trying them in my new 375 H&H. I have used the .284's.

Ray,

Happy that you finally got to try them out on game - or your buddy I should say.

Actually, there has been 1 Groove Bullet recovered from a Zebra I took in South Africa this past May. I was told, by Marius, my PH, to hit the zebra in this "triangle" where the stripes come together on the shoulder - so I did, at 220 yards. What I didn't fully realize at the time was that the zebra was slightly quartering away at the time. The 272gr EXP Groove Bullet hit the "mark" going in but it exited just in front of the left front shoulder. It dropped, got up and took off up a hill. We got in the back of the truck (I shot it prone on the ground) and proceeded up the hill. When we got to the thick bush Marius and myself went in after it. Several minutes later I heard something in the bush. I stood atop a termite mound and saw it bedded down not 30 feet away. I swung on it and it stood up as if to run further up the hill in the bush. It was facing dead away from me and the only shot I had was a "Texas Heart Shot" so I took it - at 30 feet. The 272gr EXP Groove Bullet entered about 2" to the left of its exit hole. It dropped at the shot. I racked in another round and positioned myself for another shot - if required. Marius was yelling, DON'T SHOOT, DON'T SHOOT, it isn't going anywhere. After picture taking and loading it up on the truck it was taken to be skinned. The second bullet (one shot in the rump) was recovered between 2 front ribs. Another inch and it would of passed all the way through - 6' of zebra. I have to get a picture of it and post it.

I used a 375 H&H Ackley Improved. My load produced 3080 FPS with the 272gr EXP Groove Bullet, 10 feet from the muzzle. The rifle has a 27" barrel. It has a Schmidt & Bender 1.5 to 6 x 42 scope on it. Built on a Remington 700 action.

As to the web site being down. As Bob explained, we had way more orders then we could fill and customers were waiting way longer then we liked. We decided to refund their money for all orders that were way past due. As of now all orders have been either filled or refunded. We are currently building up stock and are upgrading the web site. Once we have sufficient stock for all the calibers we will re-open the web site. What we didn't want to happen was customers complaining. In hindsight, we should of shut down sooner then we did.

When we re-open the web site we will have the following calibers available:
6mm
25
6.5
270
7mm
30
338
375
416
458

We will have various configurations in most of those calibers. We have determined numbers (quantities) of each caliber and type based on the past 18 months of sales and once we obtain a 6 month supply, based on those numbers, we will be open for business again.

I appologize for those that had to wait a long time to have their orders filled. We hope to not have the "wait" happen in the future.

Jeffrey,

Sorry to say, but we do not make any bullet larger then a 458, at this time. The demand is not very great for larger diameter bullets and being a small operation we are better serving our customers by making those calibers that are in high demand.

Maybe some time down the road we can offer a larger diameter bullet but right now it isn't in the cards.

Don

Cheers,

Andr

Don,
I hate to use this forum for this but I must since I can't contact you any other way. You previously stated that customers with long wait times had either been refunded their money or their orders filled. I ordered bullets from you in March, contacted you via e-mail on at least two occaisions and still have not received either the bullets or the refund.
While your bullets are top notch your service isn't. I would appreciate getting either the bullets or the refund right away.

Bill,

I don't have any records of receiving an order from a "Bill Davis".

If you would, e-mail me the original order and I will send out the refund directly.

As far as not getting in touch with me, my e-mail address is sales@groovebullets.com

My sentiments exactly, lb404!

I have a .375 H&H because I don't want a rifle that kicks so much that I can't shoot it from ANY position without flinching.

As Dirty Harry once said, "A man has got to know his limitations" -- and my limit for ALL positions is unfortunately about the .375 H&H!

Would it be possible to open the site to allow us to view your bullets and keep just the order portion of the site down?

Actually, my 375 H&H AI has a brake on it. Its felt recoil is akin to that of an 06 pushing a 160gr bullet - not bad at all. While taking the shot on any animal I never feel the recoil anyhow. Sorry for not adding that info in the post.

Not so sure that is a good idea BUT I will ask my site administrator if he can make available some pictures that I can post here for all to see.

Bill,

We had an order from a "George" from the same town and state in your profile. I "assume" that is you. A refund check has been sent out.

At the present time we have zero orders and owe to nobody. Once we have fully stocked the shelves we will re-open for business. This is going to take some time. I am not going to list a day/date. At present production rates it will be late this year, at the earliest.

We feel it is better to shut down operations, stock for orders, then to continue on the path we were on.
