Good to hear things went well, my friend. Now comes the hard part. REHAB!! Whatever happens, do the rehab religiously. Those of us who have been through such know how hard it can be, but it is necessary.

You got it done at the right time of the year. You will be ready for goat or sheep season in August with no problem whatsoever. In fact, you probably will be itching to do an African hunt by May.

Congrats to your new knee. I had an osteotomy done on my right knee on Nov 16:th and am still on crutches so I think its fantastic that you can already walk. Ive had a lot of help from using a stationary bicycle, not allowed resistance yet but 30 min a day is godd for flexibility.

Keep on truckin!

By the by, while most docs would love it if everybody was over 65 before replacing their knee, sometimes it's just too debilitating to wait. The latest, proven technology has them lasting longer. The one I use has 92% of the knees still in at 18 year follow-up.....

Isn't it great what can be done for those hated bad knees now. I had both of mine replaced at the same time two years ago and many folks keep telling me they don't believe from watching me that I actually had them done. I have had to show some people the scars before they actually believe it.

I too, put up with pain for many years because they told me I should wait until I was 60 years old to have replacements. At 59 I could stand it no longer and had them both done together. Best thing I ever done, and would do it again in a heartbeat. The only downside so far is arguing with folks at airports and such when I set off their metal detectors. I have found they don't seem to want to believe the card I carry that shows what the metal inside looks like, but want to keep waving their wand about me and ask what is in my pocket. The worst time I had was getting on the boat to go to the Statue of Liberty this summer. I was beginning to think that they weren't going to let me on for awhile. Glad you are getting along well, and I would suggest you get both a picture card and a note from your surgeon telling what is inside you knee. I have found that many times people actually seem to believe a written statement on a prescription page with the surgeons signature better than a picture card.

I've had numerous friends with knee replacements and each one of them wished that they had had it done sooner rather than suffering with all of the years of pain that they went through. Most doc's won't touch it until the patient is 55 years old because of the wear factor so I'll wait another 10 years.

It is done, I had my knee repalced on Friday the 10th. It is great, I am walking with out any assistance, the leg is sore from rehab but all is well. Some people say after haveing one done they wouldn't want to go thru it again. If the doc said I had to have the left knee done I would say lets go. I had very little pain or discomfort. The big thing now is regaining flexablity and then start strength training. This is the first day back in the office thus the post as I have no computer at home. It is going to be a happy new year for this hunter.
