Taxidermist Recommendation, Please

I've been hunting in Zimbabwe and have had trophies done there, and very satisfactorily.
But in March I'll be hunting in C.A.R. and so will have to ship trophies stateside for mounting.
I'd appreciate suggestions and recommendations on people who do good work on African trophies and who are, preferably, on the east coast.

Thanks.

Check out Larry Quinn at American Sportsman Taxidermy in Tallahassee, FL. He specializes in African work. Call him at (850) 576-2477 and ask for a brochure.

I visited a number of taxidermists before going on a hunt in South Africa recently. His work was the best looking of them all.

I also appreciated the fact that his workshop was clean and well organized. Each client has a separate storage area for work in progress and all finished work waiting to be shipped was covered and protected.

Some of the others had piles of horns and skulls laying around with a number of clients trophies mixed up in the piles, and everything was covered with dust and dirt.
He has a staff of around 6 - 8 people and is able to deliver promptly.

Whoever you choose, I highly recommend that you meet them in person and inspect their shop before sending them your trophies.

I would contact Ellen at Barian Shipping Company, tel. 516-569-7447 and ask her for an Atkinson Hunting Adventures package...They will recieve your trophys, drive them to the nearby tannery, the tannery will send them to High Desert Taxidermy, Jerome Idaho ( tel. 208-644-9035)who will mount them and send them to you...

I installed this package procedure for my customers some time ago to illiminate any of the problems so often encountered, and I don't mind sharing it with you and I can check on your trophies from time to time to be sure everyhthing is comming along...

In fact, I will extend this offer to all of our group here on Accurate Loading, no charge. No I don't get a kick back...

Peter:

A small world -- Essex Junction is the next town over. There aren't all that many of us in Vermont who hunt Africa.

Thanks for the suggestion, and thanks to the others for theirs. I'll be calling around to those recommended and will try to settle on one shortly.
