Some time back, I had asked about this on the forum, got a couple of responses as estimates. Ivan Carter was kind enough to actually measure 3 killed on his most recent trip and has emailed me the info. So, for what it is worth:

In metres....1,30 to 1,50
In inches (rounded) 51 to 59
In hands (rounded) 13 to 15

Thanks to Ivan for taking the time to answer my question.

This is all wrong.

We all know that animals lying down do not measure the same way as when they are standing up.

Please ask Ivan to measure a few more buffalo, while they are standing up clap

Fully grown cape buffalo bulls will average between 4.5, and 5 feet at the top of the shoulder while standing!

Prove it! rotflmo rotflmo

I insist on seeing sufficient pictures of you measuring a large enough number of animals to give scientific evidence that 4 feet 6 inches to 5 foot is the true average.

well by gosh and by golly; if Ray does all of that, why not have him ear notch 'em while he's at it?

Another gratuitous Ray-slam. Saeed has addressed this, recently, so get yourself a life of your own and stop wanting to be Ray. You wouldn't measure up to him very well.

Well the next time I get over, I'll bring a tape measure, if I can shoot as many as I measure, "FREE"! Big Grin I'll also get there a week early so I will have time to build a squeeze box, to hold them while I measure them! I'll let you get them in the squeeze box, and take the pictures! ..........Is that cheating? holycow
