I still can't hunt, my lower back and some new autoimmune disease I picked up 6-12 months ago, no diagnosis yet. No cancer so that was a relief. My heart is still in hunting, being in the bush with Alan Vincent- love him like family, sadly the last member of my blood family passed away last Dec, he was 88 , and was great up the last 10 days, no pain we should all be so lucky. I moved to Beverly Hills which is nice, if you don't like shooting or hunting. I have a 2 lion rugs one one zebra rug mounts all 3 in different rooms I get the lecture from most everyone who sees them, LA nut cases, so to really bother them, I make a point to show them the entry and exit holes on the lion rugs. I can't wait to see the responses when the shoulder mounts get hung up in the next couple months. They can't stand the ivory either. I ask them if they like their leather shoes, they always say "of course" , they are the best. I tell them something had to die for that, followed by the 2nd question "what's the difference". "It just is" they always reply. so then I press them, how is that? Needless to say I don't have many friends in LA, there are a few who love hunting like we do and I'm friends with them. Most Here are just dumb ass city people....there are exceptions and they are wonderful people. It's not about killing, I don't enjoy killing, the uninformed don't get it, forget trying to open their brain washed minds. Impossible here. I tell them I like to live off the land and unplug from the grid. Killing is. For me the least pleasurable part of hunting. Photo safari is. A joke. For me. Funny how conditioned tv has made Americans such experts on Africa. Propaganda Minister Goeballs (SP) hitlers guy taught the world how to use propaganda. Beverly Hills is ground zero for gullible people. Like I said the past couple years I'm not here much because it makes me sad that I can't hunt, I'm 46. & was becoming reasonably skilled at elephants, that was my goal. To be the front man out in a elephant hunt, calling the shots-no pun. I was very close 60-90 more days. Less if it was a easy one. Soon. As I know I can hunt again I will participate here more. Please email me if I can help anyone, 99.79779% of the right info is here. Or just to say hello. So to Saeed, long lost brother Ron, and everyone else I have known longer than anyone on the Internet, I wish you the very best. I will be back here again, this isn't a good bye letter. I will never disappear. Kelly and I are happy for now, great house, weather, we are very happy. I'm staying here z2-4 years then off to a new land, I'm leaving America. So much to share, but I don't want to waste anyone's time, I'm happy to reply if anyone has a ?? or two, I'm not here for. 2 days, packing and traveling . So if u don't hear from me, don't worry I will answer promptly. Last. Shooting I did was with wilson combat 1911's 2 years ago. Sad, In oct I'm off to Vegas and will go shoot there, I have time. Since I started young, takes me 10 minutes and I'm ready! Note my new email is : EP90210@hotmail.com & my old one , I check them once a week My phone number for those of you who have it is the same, however it's off at the moment, my other number that works now is 702/880/6100 I'm off to London tomaro then Italy for 2-3 weeks, no phone yay!!! Warmest regards, Eric Petersen<------a man who wants to elephant hunt again someday. 14 down 86 to go sorry about the spelling, I missed that class.

Hey Eric, good to see you're still alive and kickin'. I was just wondering a few days ago how you were doing since I hadn't seen a post in so long. Ignore the knuckleheads out there and enjoy the sun and great weather. All the best in your continued efforts to return to Africa's hunting fields! _____________________ A successful man is one who earns more money than his wife can spend.

For those of us who live in CA it can be a challenge, but I am often surprised by how many actually appreciate what we do, especially after we provide a bit of education about the realities of africa in the 21st century. Best of luck to you and I hope things resolve in your favor. Mike ______________ DSC DRSS (again) SCI Life NRA Life Sables Life Mzuri IPHA "To be a Marine is enough."

Nice to hear from you Eric. I remember the days when you were a regular here on AR. I'm sorry that we never had the chance to get together when you lived in Las Vegas. Maybe someday. Best regards to you, and I do hope that you continue to heal and to live your dream of hunting elephant again.

Eric I was just thinking of you the other day and wondering how you are doing. I remember you as one the most generous member of AR(excluding Saeed, of course). I still have your VHS tape from your Zim hunt. I have often wondered if you would mind if I converted it to DVD and gave it away here on AR(free as a gift to members and as a tribute to you and your generosity). I know that we have never met, but I miss chatting with you here on AR. It would be great if you could check in as much as possible. Best of luck! Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt. Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure. -Jason Brown

Long Lost Brother Eric, You are one amazing dude, and you must never cease to amaze, you hear? I finally found this thread. Thanks for the rundown on things. I'll check in mid October to see if you made it back to Vegas by way of Hollywood, London, and Italy ... I'll be in Vegas then and Hollyweird one of these days. Best, Ron

Hey Eric, good to hear from you. We can't all hunt every year. Stick around and join in the conversation. "There are worse memorials to a life well-lived than a pair of elephant tusks." Robert Ruark
