Ladies and gentlemen,

Our friends, the Vincents, left us yesterday after having spent a few days with us.

The ladies enjoyed the shopping and sight seeing, and the boys spent most of their time either shooting in the gun room or working in the workshop!

Alan had his first attempt at building a rifle -with a little help from his father.

They built a 450 Vincent Short, and developed a lot of loads for it.

Roy also enjoyed developing loads for one of our 416 Rigby rifles, and more for the 9.3x64.

We have also found that we will be hunting in the Moyowosi area in Tanzania this year.

Walter never stopped asking to take his Blaser. Both Roy and myself vetoed that thought.

He then came up with a suggestion that he would love to take his Blaser, and he does not mind changing the caliber to suit us.

I told him if he can get a barrel for his rifle that is chambered for the 375/404, he can take it.

That put an end to his argument.

He has promised to "do something nasty to both of you".

We are not worried, in Africa he is under our mercy. In fact, if he steps out of line, he might spend the night tied to a tree next to a dead zebra. It would be interesting to see how the hyaenas approach that bait!

We might do that just for fun clap

Depends upon whether Walter has had a bath lately. There are somethings even a hyena won't touch...

The Moyowasi is an excellent area, Saeed, from all I have heard. I believe that TGTS used to have the central and southern blocks, and I know that Robin Hurt has also hunted there a lot, and I believe at one time held concessions there.

I am a bit out of touch though - and for all I know TGTS and Hurt both may have moved elsewhere.

In any case, I do know that both of them had terrific success there in recent times.

Good hunting!

BTW, as a fellow Blaser shooter, I think you and Roy ought to let up on Walter.

Unless it's operator error that you are worried about, in which case any rifle would be as bad, and I would understand completely. Big Grin

Glad to hear that the Vincent's had a great time, and got to spend some quality time playing with rifles!

The Moyowasi sounds like a very interesting and exiting "change of scenery". I am looking forward to the pics and videos already! Smiler

Best regards my friend,
Canuck

MrLexma,
Correct, Alan Vicent is now an employed PH for TGT..Alan is one of THE finest Phs I have ever met and considering his young age that speaks well for his tutor Roy Vicent, his father who needs no introduction to those who hunt Africa.

Hunt sounds wonderful.

Saeed, are you really going to terrify the hyena? Is that considered sporting? Wink

Walter wanted to invite us to his house for dinner. And remembering the last time he did that - about a month ago! - I told him we would prefer to go out instead!

A month ago we went to his house for a BBQ. We arrived at the time he told us to come - and the following is what happened.

I know, many of you probably would not believe it, but those who have met and known Walter would surely do!

He opened the door after we rang the bell, with a look of total shock on his face! "Ha? Why are you here?"

Me "To have dinner?"
Walter "DINNER? What dinner?"
Me "You have asked us to come for a BBQ you nitwit!"

Walter "OH SHIT! I completely forgot about that!"

Me "So? What do we do now then?"
Walter "We are going to have a BBQ! But it will take some time. Come and sit down while I prepare everything"

Me "We could go out instead if you wish"
Walter "No no, we are going to have a BBQ right here. And I better start the fire right away, as you like your meat cremated!"

We went and sat down in his garden, he brough us drinks, and went to busy himself preparing our BBQ!

We asked if we could help, which he refused.

His BBQ was close to where we were sitting, and we could see he was having some problems lighting it.

Me "have you turned the gas on?"
Walter "No. This one does not need any gas!"
Me "Why do you have a gas bottle connected then?"

Walter "The gas bottle is empty. I have modified the BBQ to work on wood"

Me "Where is the wood then?"
Walter "I am trying to find what is left in the BBQ from the last time. But there might not be any left"

Me "Let us go out and have dinner. I can see this is going to be an all night adventure"

Walter "Be quiet! I will get the BBQ going any minute now"

His wife called from inside the house, and spoke to him in Spanish. None of us could understand what she said. He stopped and looked at us, with total amazement on his face!

Me "What is happening?"
Walter "As usual, anything you get involved in becomes a disater! My wife says we do not have enough meat for everyone"

Me "Shall I go to the supermarket and get some steaks?"

Walter "Yes, make yourself useful. By the time you come back the fire will be ready"

The supermarket wasn't very far. I went and got some ribeye steaks, and came back. The fire was still unlit!

Me "Where is the fire?"
Walter "We have no fire. We have no wood or charcoal either. Your friend here has already ordered food to be delivered. So sit down and don't even THINK of saying anything. Have your drink, eat your snack. And let me have those steaks to put in the fridge. I will enjoy them tomorrow with some nice friends"

So when he invited us and the Vincents, we decided he could buy us a brunch instead, and that si what you can see above.

Ah yes, but did Walter forget to bring his wallet? And if he did bring it, was it empty?

Why do I feel that with Walter, the cross-examination should never end?
