A question for the experienced leopard hunters out there. Are there any areas in Zim where one is likely to shoot a leopard in daylight over bait? I have the impression that it is a fairly sure bet in some parts of Masiland in Tanzania but the price is very high. What of Zim??

Brett,

I shot my first leopard in Chewore South on the second morning in the blind. No lights allowed there. The Luangwa River in Zambia is loaded with leopard and no light allowed there either. On 2 safaris we saw 4 leopard in daylight not on the baits and killed a leopard the first hour in the blind. Tanzania as you said is the same deal but a leopard becomes very expensive there.

PM me if you'd like more info on leopards in Zim or Zambia.

Mine came from the Chewore North area at Dawn of the fourteenth day, easy I don't think so. Possible, very as we saw 8 Leopards during that Safari (1991.)

I am not a top leopard hunter and wouldn't book one now, but- when I didn't have a choice - I always got lucky in the zambezi valley. As 465 says , no night hunting allowed, and for me it has almost always been within minutes of last legal shooting light. Chewore is great, so is Rifa. Otherwise, Matetsi is more than fair.

Managed a nice leopard at dawn in chirisa once but that was a good few years ago and I haven't hunted there recently.
