Johan, I wore the Blaser cap just for you and was thinking about doing this dove hunt next year with a Blaser R93 set up with a 28 guage bbl. lhonda, We shot Northern Shovelers, Teal, Palm Doves and Painted Snipe. There was never any talk of limits on this trip and it is my impression that, due to the scarcity of firearms in Egypt, the birds are so rarely hunted as to make limits unnecessary. RIP, Sand Camo, EXACTLY! I actually forgot my camo in the US and was worried that this might adversely impact the hunt. It really didn't. In fact, on two instances while distracted by incoming birds in front of the blind, a bird approached from behind and (apparently undeterred by the big tan thing in front of them) plopped down about 10-15 feet in front of me. The dove hunt was made effective by simply crouching behind a medium sized piece of brush on the edge of an orchard and catching the birds as they moved from roosting to feeding or vice versa. I think I got busted once or twice but it was my fault for standing upright just a bit too soon and due to the sheer volume of birds didn't matter to me a bit. As an aside, there was no snow but it was damn cold which made me more amazed that the guys in the top photo were willing to swim in there to grab the downed birds and decoys. Best, JohnTheGreek | ||
