If what is going on with SAA is going to be true and they are stopping service from Atlanta to Joburg what other options will we have for non-stop service from the USA to Joburg. I don't see anything else in my search.

I have heard they will go from NY and DC but those are poor options for me and most people connecting with guns. If there is going to be a connecton then what options do we have for the 2005 season.

The UK is out for transferring guns(IMO) and I have used Amsterdam and Frankfort many times in the past. They are OK but I just don't like the long layover. I would prefer to be in Joburg 12 hours sooner then waste that time in Germany or Amsterdam.

What are the options going the other way from the west coast? There must be some issues because I have only heard of a couple people connecting in Australia to get to Joburg. I also don't recall their details now, never really cared or payed attention to the flight data.

I would really prefer not to connect in Europe and waste so much time. Maybe the only real option (for me) is the SAA flights after all. At least until another carrier starts going non Stop to Joburg from Atlanta or another reasonable departure city. DC will be a nightmare as well as NYC to connect with guns. Actually just to connect period!

I sat next to a fella on a flight ( domestic)last year and we spoke about the long international flights. He had mentioned that anybody can lease a large jet like a 737 or 727 for a fair price which could be covered by a 1/3 full flight load. or less depending upon the cost of the tickets. He gave me a business card for a guy that does this in Houston or Dallas, I forget. Anyway it seemed like a strecth to even consider this until now. How nice would it be to have a flight with a personal staff and good seating that is catering to us exclusive and we are all travelling for the same reason!

The time may come where this actually begins to seem possible. I'm going to look into this when I get back from RSA. I leave next week and will be there til end of June. I'll certainly post all I find on this. Anyone with Non-stop ideas or alternate connection cities Post up!

JJ,

I have flown out of JFK several times to RSA. I never had any problems with them concerning guns. It is just a difficult airport to get around in. I was also there the morning of 9/11, just got off my SAA flight and was on board another plane bound for Detroit when everything happened. Could see it from the plane window.

What was even strange after that was, they booted everyone off the planes and though the event was a terrorist one, here I was with a bow, a rifle and a couple boxes of ammo standing there in the chaos. No one ever attempted to "secure" my obvious cargo.

I flew out of JFK again in 2002. Still no problems, the cops and all were real nice and even carried my gun case to the xray machines. All they want is to see your 4457 and Passport.

The idea of our own "Accurate Reloading Airlines" is fascinating. But you will also have to employ some speedo clad male flight attendants for the ladies.

Here they are Anne.

JJ is so confident, he has already hired them. I understand they are quite anxious to get started!

No, no Sheldon, there is a weight limit! How about sending some of your Mounties out?

Holy smokes, that's a lot of sunburn going on there!

This Beatrice, the chair of the selection committee, with two nominees. There is a little bit of a pay scandal brewing as they apparently feel they should be paid for both security and "service" on the new airline. There's also some discrepancy as to what is meant by the word service.

This is Manjit, who was the runner up to the fine gents above:

And finally, this is Bernie, who was disqualified as it was discovered that he was Beatrice's son.
