Vast tracts of wildlife land grabbed by party leaders

via Vast tracts of wildlife land grabbed by party leaders | The Zimbabwean by Regerai Tukutuku 20.11.13

In what could be seem as a reward to his cronies, President Mugabe has allowed senior Zanu (PF) members to invade wildlife conservancies at Mwenezi in Masvingo.

The action has led displaced white farmers to once again cry foul over state-sanctioned racism and open discrimination.

The Masvingo provincial lands committee, then chaired by former governor Titus Maluleke, allowed senior party leaders to grab vast tracks of land, covering fragile wildlife sanctuaries, saying the move represented an indelible mark towards black advancement.

The invasions saw several white animal experts deprived of their investment and livelihood. They were ordered either to vacate the sanctuaries or enter into partnerships with new owners, none of whom were of their choice.

The new beneficiaries included Fortune Charumbira, the president of the Zimbabwe Council of Chiefs and a Zanu (PF) fanatic. He grabbed Quagarpen B ranch, a lucrative and professionally run entity, saying it was his natural right to do so.

The other top recipient was Major General Engelbert Rugeje, the army’s chief of staff, now at Wanezi Block in Mwenezi. Former Chivi central legislator Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana, and Attorney-General Johannes Tomana also claimed a large swathe of territory under the scheme.

Masvingo provincial administrator Felix Chikovo confirmed that several party heavyweights had been given vast tracts of land and were now armed with state offer letters as collateral security.

“The land reform exercise is a process. All we have just done is to formalise the whole thing. The offer letters were issued to some of the beneficiaries last week,” he added.

The Commercial Farmers’ Union immediately complained about the manner in which some of their members were being forced to take in senior Zanu (PF) officials as partners in businesses they took decades to develop single-handedly.

“The issue is that white property owners are being forced to incorporate senior Zanu (PF) officials into the wildlife business,” said a senior CFU official. “These partners are just incorporated without paying a single cent, and we are saying no to such daylight robbery.”

You know, the US has a lot of drones in the Seychelles. Seems to me the Uncle Bob problem could be resolved in short order.

How this is allowed to continue with NO ONE in the international community speaking out is outrageous. Millions of Zimbabweans (both white and black) are paying a huge price.

Sad what Rhodesia has become.

It is sad and we could easily topple his regime......but what would they get to replace Bob? We have done this before and gotten a BUNCH of egg on our face.

I was talking to the Black camp manager on a hunt in Zim in'09 and he said that "keeping Bob is best as he has already stole mostly enough to be happy. A new guy would have to start from scratch and Zimbabwe doesn't have as much to steal anymore".

I sure hope and pray for the best for my friends in Zim, but I just don't see any way out for them.

That is Africa for you and it will never be any different! every politician and leader take what they can and don't give A rats Ass about the rest of the people in the country. Hell look with what Zuma is getting away with in the last 19 years the ANC has wasted more money than the previous government did the entire time before that! All they do is when they need more money to steel is rise the tax on fuel and put up A couple more toll roads and the money roll in again! Can you guys imagine just how much it cost to maintain all of Zuma's wife's??

Because it is the international community ( politicians ) that supported the idea of good old Bob to come to power to replace the Smith "regime" of Rhodesia in the first place. Now that Bob has turned the jewel into junk , no one cares anymore . I guess its not politically correct to do so......

Yes sir...you are 100% correct!

And NOW...we are battling to keep our government from becoming representative of Zimbabwe's.

Interesting article in the economist.

It is sad what Uncle Bob is going with the Save Conservancy. Looks like Bubye has more politically influential backers.

But this is a regime that has done this -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gukurahundi

This is for what Uncle Bob should have been held most accountable by the West. But instead he was invited to the White House and given an official reception.

http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/?pid=41833

So I don't really expect much better to come out of anyone after Uncle Bob as they must have been much more operationally involved in what criminal acts have happened.

As much as we lament what Uncle Bob has done to wildlife, white farmers ect - the main victims of his regimes violence have been Black Zimbabweans.

Hands down the nicest people (white, black, brown, hunters, non-hunters anything ) I have meet in South Africa and Botswana have been Black Zimbabweans.

Mate, I hate to say it but I reckon Malema will take power within 3 elections at most & very possibly sooner...... the good news is I hope our building/rebuilding will be finished around Christmas time or soonafter & after that, we'll have plenty of space so our RSA friends will always find a warm welcome, a clean bed, a cold beer & a hot braii ready & waiting for them!

A prime example on the warped values of Socialism and I bet there's a whole bunch on this site whose socialist beliefs find nothing wrong with the "transition" taking place in those southern African states.

Fujotupu, you are so right there mate. And when these dum phuks have nothing, then all the socialist wankers come galloping in on their little brown [white steads are just so racist] donkeys, throwing other folks money around so that the presidents and other assorted wankers at the top can adopt a lifestyle to which they can become used to. Roll Eyes The sad thing is that so many visiting here arrive at the port of entry, then transport to the end destination for a short period of time and learn nothing of the reality on the continent. It will be interesting to hear the views of that Ex-pat Sub-continent living in the Land of the Long White Cloud after his brief visit next year. Cool

There's also some bloody good hunting, shooting & fishing here as well.

The local hunting club (I assume) had a monteria in the forest behind our house this morning & we heard a fair bit of shooting so I assume some deer & wild boar got nailed.

This is typical with the field next to the chicken house going in the first round. Reminds me of the NBA.
