A code free DVD player...yes...something like that would be commonplace in Europe. But less so in NA outside the bigger hubs. We looked in a few places in Calgary, and basically we were told that these would probably be available in specialty shops in Vancouver, Toronto...the big metropolitan hubs, but not in "Cow Town". Actually, we had to educate the staff of most of these shops that there was such a thing regionally functional DVD players. We even took some of our DVD's in to prove it, they just wouldn't believe us. Frans

I've a Cabela's video about buff hunting where he is the PH. A very good video, I exchange a couple of e-mails with him a couple of years ago, it seems a great guy. LG

Check the internet-- region free DVD players abound (at Best Buy, even). If you know what you're looking for, of course. My Denon 2200 was region free from the get-go, and you get to choose PAL or NTSC output. Doesn't run off 50 Hz though. On the cheap end, the "Apex" $40 players either play everything, or can be hacked to do so. Search for DVD hacks; they abound. Most hacks are done via the remote control, some use a file on a CD to reprogram the ROM. If it hoses your $40 Apex player, you aren't out much. Pertinax
