Wendell, I understand and accept the explanation. I think it was well said and clear. I'd be happy to hunt with the man. The only thing that amazes me more than the hostility of some on this thread is that I actually read all the way to the bottom. I usually exit quickly when it appears a thread is nothing more than a pissing match. For those of you who would like to parse the English language further, please explain the phrase "just now", as it is used in Africa. Those of you who have been there will know what I mean.... Minkman You correct, its not new just increased in the last couple of years out of control. The whole thing got started IMO by some South African and Zimbabwean PH’s / outfitters coming to Mozambique and trying to squeeze out whatever money their can. Mozambique still having problems of a very weak wildlife department currently only 435 game ranger nation wide. Lack of communication, transport, equipment, low wages, etc. Creates a climate for “local deals†or turning a blind eye, and don’t forget meat is as good as cash in Africa. Things are changing and with the new president a lot of civil servants getting their act together. I am in principal against any PAC hunting by clients because there a too many openings for misuse as you can see on the offers. The same applies for the culling of elephants for management purpose. Is a very unpleasant affair and have to be done by people that know exactly what there doing. There is no culling program in Mozambique except some licenses for croc culling are given if the need arises. Mozambique’s do not need to cull operation because the country is large and there a no fences, if population should increase, locally, above carrying capacity they would just move to the surrounding areas. There is no reliable data on human/ animal conflict cases. However a lot of “PAC cases a another way of getting some meat on the table or some money in the pocket. The government working on the problem and thinking about to train some community members on problem / conflict animal control. Yes we got a Outfitter organisation “AMOS†we just on the beginning and the association have not a e-mail address nor a website at the moment. You can send me PM and I will give you the e-mail address of the chairman. The link where you can download the wildlife law is: http://www.acisofala.com/investor_information.htm There is also a lot of other useful information if you desire to set up your own game farm or other investments in Mozambique Good hunting Freischuetz | |||
