Conewago: I overnighted there this year on my way to Zimbabwe. Louis met me at the airport and really helped with clearing my firearms and getting me out of the airport and on to the Afton House where I was met with comfortable surroundings, good food, and the company of other travelers. I can recommend the Afton House without hesitation. Good Luck on your trip. Alan.

Conewago,

This is the link to the Afton House I bookmarked from a previous thread Afton House . I have not stayed here but I have been to Johannesburg twice in the past seven years. This is one place it is damn nice to have some one pick you up and house you! My last visit I rented a car headed straight to Kruger Park for a week. As Johannesburg scarces the crap out of me. Good luck with the hunt!

PS: I'm from Mountville

My hunt in RSA starts Apr 26, 2005. Plans are to get there early maybe arrive Joburg Apr 24. That leaves some time for staying and sightseeing in the area. Im considering contacting Afton House for accommodations. I know Ive seen Afton House mentioned on this board before but with the search feature down I cant find the posts.

Searching the web Ive found references to Afton House at several addresses, but most seem to point to 17 Aftonwold Way, Aston Manor, Johanneshurg, Gauteng, 1630. Have I found the right place? Would you recommend staying with them for 1-2 days and letting them suggest or conduct me on some sightseeing?

Thanks for your thoughts,

We stayed there in August 2004. The meet & greet service and dealing with your firearms is worth the cost alone. You can't go wrong.
