Harald's issue #17 arrived in my mail box this week, and the focus of the issue "In the Heart of Africa" is Central African Republic hunting.

For those that are not familiar with Harald Wolf and Hatari Times, it is unusual in format. Harald is a European builder of high-end guns, and Hatari Times is largely written by him. Each issue focuses on a particular country or region, and the hunts that Harald has done there. He has some other authors as well to be sure.

If you are thinking about hunting CAR, you need to read this issue.

The website still shows #16 though.

That was a pretty good issue. I was in Cameroon in March hunting Roan and think that a lot of people really miss out by not checking into western African hunting. I've done the southern hunts and they simply don't compare. Cameroon, CAR, etc... are great destinations and show what the safaris of old were like. I intend to return next year for either Bongo or Lord Derby Eland.

Great magazine as always. I got # 17 around 3 weeks ago

Seems like Harald likes 9,3X62 for most African hunting

Cheers

Mac,

Did you do a report on your hunt and I just missed it?

What animals besides roan were you hunting?

Yes I did a report on the hunt. It was back in March. I posted something like 7 or 8 pics.

I took a Roan that was a litle over 30 inches, a Western Hartebeest, an Oribi, a Nigerian Bohor Reedbuck and a buch of olive baboons. I could have take a 25-27 inch roan any day of the hunt, but I was looking for an old monster. Took him on day 7 of a 12 day hunt. Saw herds of Lord Derby on 3 different occasions. I would have loved to have taken one, but the quota was already spoken for. I also saw lots of warthogs, bush duikers, red-flanked ukers, harnessed bushbuck and civet cats.

This was a heck of a trip and it really wasn't too expensive. I paid $8K for the trip (12 days of hnting) plus trophy fees. That pretty reasonable for a trip to Cameroon.

PM me and I'll send you a copy of the hunt report I sent to Saeed. It just never made it to the hunt page.

Mac,

PM in the air.

I figured a "Skivvy Waver" would appreciate the terminology.

Also I pulled up your post from March; the photos were not displaying, but the text told a great story.

MAC,

I am afraid I never received your report.

If you can send it to me agin, I will be happy to add it to our Hunting Page.

I think I am finally winning the battle against spam.

I used to get about 2,000 email messages a day!!?? at least 95% of them are junk.

It got to the point if I did not recognize the address they are from, I just deleted them.

About 3 weeks ago I got Mailwasher.

It is an anti-spam program, which seems to work very well.

I am down to about 200-300 a day now, and this program makes it much easier to check if one wishes to open a message or not.
