Director of Wildlife Severe dropped in major reshuffle 2007-12-07 08:41:26 By Patrick Kisembo The Director of Wildlife in the Ministry of Tourism and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Severe, has been relieved of his duties in a shake-up announced yesterday. Succeeding him is former principal wildlife officer Erasmus Tarimo. Announcing the changes at a news conference in Dar es Salaam yesterday, Tourism and Natural Resources minister Jumanne Maghembe said the move was meant to boost efficiency. Following the changes, the wildlife directorate will now have five deputy directors - Obedi Mbangwa, Bonaventura Midala, Miriam Zakaria, Nebbo Mwina and Benjamin Andulege. The shake-up has seen Dr Felician Kilahama become director of forestry and beekeeping, assisted by Dr Aloyce Tango, Gladness Mkamba, Hadija Ramadhani and Monica Kagya. Fisheries director Geoffrey Nanyaro retains his post and will be assisted by Winfried Haule, Hosea Mbilinyi, Mwanaidi Mlolwa and Easter Mndeme. Maria Elia Mmari has been named director of tourism, with Aloyce Nzuki, Ibrahim Mussa and Uzaeli Kiangi as her assistants. Planning director T. Kilenga and his archives and antiquities counterpart, D. Kamamba, are also not affected by the changes. Prof. Maghembe said the directors and deputy directors dropped would be reassigned but he gave no datails. The shake-up comes after months of reports of shady transactions, mainly involving corruption and mismanagement of national resources, in which some senior officials in the ministry have been implicated.
