One thing that has changed at Filson for the better is the number of items made in the US. They have actually introduced many more items in the last year.

As far as people who know the old stuff..there is the tall guy and the older lady (if you've been there you know who I mean) and they have been around a long time, don't know their names. The new people are just clueless...I started talking about a light bird vest to one guys and he just walked away from me... I saw another young female employee modeling a new coat and swishing round the show room...it was all about how good SHE looked in the coat and how her friends would love it (much like the couple I mentioned above),they just nod and say 'Yeah, yeah" to whatever you say. No real knowledge of the products. They just keep clothes folded and 'look in the back' for a different size if you need it...

I did the Under Armor Longsleeve and Shortsleeve Shirts and the Carhardt Lightweight Double Pleated Pants. They are great, and colors are good.

Mink and Wall Tents don't go together. Especially when you are sleeping in the Wall Tent.

Bax: Thanks for the Bauer link. Not a big line-up, but it's a start.
Sierra, I perspire rather freely, and found an Underarmor layer a welcome addition in Namibia in 2007.

Beretta makes some pretty nice hunting gear. It might not be terribly "safari" focused but, their bird hunting clothing is well thought out. Their safari vest was nicer IMHO then the Filson clone I also got.

I have also picked up a couple random Browning and Columbia pieces that are pretty nice and not overly expensive. You do have to pick and choose through a lot of mass market stuff though.

Beretta has safari clothing, but from other Beretta clothing I have tried on I would say it comes in two sizes 1. gay Italian model, and 2, smaller gay Italian model.

Nice looking stuff though.

I never liked 5.11 tactical pants, but now that Blackhawk makes sheriff brown, coyote tan and OD green I think I am set.

Another vote for Goodwill Industries as my clothier of choice. I was just there yesterday and bought some 100% cotton shirts in drab colors. They ranged in price from $3.99 to $5.99.

At the conclusion of this July's safari, I'll leave the shirts with the camp staff.

Orvis has excellent tight weave bush shirts in khaki and green. I have a couple.

Eddie Bauer used to sell great bush shirts under the "Legend" mark. Unfortunately, mine are wearing out so badly that they are useless EXCEPT for hunting.

Filson still sells nice products online, but it is sometimes hard to predict what size is best. I usually go one size larger simply to have them loose.

5.11 products are okay, with nice pockets. I have several of the pants. One great feature is knee pockets so you can insert pads for hunting. OTOH, the fabric gets soft awfully quickly and denims may be a better choice. I personally like Wrangler jeans for the relatively heavy fabric, high rise and good cut for active use, much better than Levis.
