Babboons
Having seen a male babboon go berserk one time, I am curious if they are commonly considered trophys. Are they ever thought of as DG?

They're not considered DG (although like zebras and ostriches, they can be dangerous).

As for being a 'trophy', some people think they are, some people don't.

I love hunting baboons, they are smart ,and have excellent eyesight.
Under certain conditions they can be dangerous. I have found getting close is almost impossible for wild ones. Therefore a long range rifle could be handy.
As George says some folks don't like them. I think they are a very worthy opponent for a awesome hunt.

I have enjoyed hunting them in the past and have one mounted in my game room. I probably would not shoot another unless they were a problem animal.

I love to hunt them and would almost go on a safari if unlimited baboons were on the trophy list! Trophies? I am looking at the bleached skull of the first one I killed. I have a mounted one but most folks don't like it. They are a fun an challenging game animal. If you don't kill one the first time around they can get pretty difficult to get up on again. Long range accurate rifle is handy.

I think they are great fun to hunt. Very challenging to get close as they have great eyesight and are very "switched on" at all times. I have a couple being mounted but I'm not sure I consider them "trophies". My favorite shot on them is to find one sitting in the top of a tree.

If you finish your safari early, they can provide great sport without running up a huge bill.

The Gelada baboon of Ethiopia is really unique. Unfortunately he carries a $3,300 license fee.

Gorgeous, aren't they?

Bobos are amongst the smartest of monkeys and quite a challenge to hunt. I have killed five, one with an arrow.

A big dog Chacma baboon is indeed a trophy and the hunting can be very good.

I am not vouching for the authenticity of this, but we have huge populations of them here. In my Grandfathers journals, he and his brother set up a long pole as a see saw with the weighted end accessible, and the long side over the edge of a sheer cliff on the farm here. They greased the part hanging over the cliff, and attached a bag of oranges with a piece of wire, and then left the scene. The comment in the journal is "Silly buggers were lining up to commit suicide"

Baboons can be quite the challenge to hunt and I take them at every opportunity. One of my favorite hunts was in Zim using a predator call. Stirred the entire troop up and they put on a big show...so did my .223

i tried-unsuccessfully- for 3 days to nail a big one in Coutada 10 several years ago. could have easily killed several but the dominant male was simply too smart. challenging trophy if you pursue the alpha male. there was a skull in camp with canine teeth that would put a leopard to shame!
