Excuse me if I have posted this in the incorrect forum.

I am assisting the son of an African hunter, Ralph Mellom, who is now in hospice care. His son needs to know how he can go about selling several of this father's federally restricted Trophies. Some may remember a 1993 lion attack incident in Namibia. Ralph is the one that was attacked and terribly injured. He authored an Outdoor Life article in 1994, which is attached.

It is my understanding that Ralph has elephant tusks, and full body lion and leopard. Each of these trophies is subject to particular federal laws, which is son is aware of. I assume each must remain in the state of South Carolina.

I have no interest in this matter, I am simply assisting a friend with a unique challenge.

Any guidance you can share will be passed along to his son.

Thank you!

Yes, thanks for the story. However, I don’t know what to tell you about the trophies.

I meant to be DSC Member...bad typing skills.

Lolli Brothers: 1-660-385-2516; Trophy Room Liquidators:1-512-626-8824 or 1-512-451-7633. Both specialize in downsizing or liquidating trophy room collections. There may be others out there as well.

This is a common situation and as UEG said, it is best to use a reputable liquidator/agent. There are State, Federal and International laws involved including taxation and valuation issues. Get it wrong and it will cost you more than a few headaches.

That’s a great story, by the way. Huber actually married a Bushman woman. Both he and Johnny are shown briefly in Capstick’s elephant video.

I live in SC and am well connected to possible buyers in the state so no fed laws affected. Call me at 980-328-0204.
