Where is the most economical/affordable place to get in a good Cape Buff hunt for a first-time CB hunter?

A place with a reputable outfitter, abundant, average-sized game representative and picturesque scenery... Big Grin

Thanks!

I would also recommend Buzz Charlton or Myles McCallum (www.cmsafaris.com). My hunting partner and I hunted CB with CMS in 2008 and we are going back next year for leopard, CB and sable. They are top notch and great guys. AR members Mike Jines (MJines) and Kelly Gill have also hunted with them. Check them out.

+1 on CM Safaris. I think the area in and around Makuti may offer the best buffalo hunting in Zim these days.

Martin Pieter's offers are hard to beat. I have hunted with him and he meets your listed criteria. My wife and I are going back to the Omay for an early season hunt this year.

Besides area I always try to find out if the PH and I will "get along". Buzz Charlton was recommended several times. Having spent time with Buzz at the shows he is someone I would (will) hunt with in his Makuti area.

You would not go wrong with Ross Johnston (Ross J) with HHK. I have been in camp with him and he also took me fishing. He is lots of fun and I would trust hunting with him.

If possible book ten days instead of seven. You will not regret it.

"first-time CB hunter"
I assume CB stands for Cape Buffalo and not cross-bow.

There are 3 classes of land in Zim. Communal/campfire, safari area, and private. The amount of game you will encounter, esp. plains game, increases from left to right. However, not all private land has elephant and buffalo.

Drop me a PM with your needs, I have a place in mind that may work for you (and it hits your other criteria ... scenic etc.)

Found an extremely good deal in Reno. 10 days, air charter from Jo-burg to hunting area, trophy fees for Buffalo, Sable, Common Reedbuck and Warthog...included all government fees. $17,000. This is with a group I hunted with two years ago in Mozambique. They are 100% on Buffalo over the past several years and their camp and ph's are first rate.
