Can we have a

"Hitting one's head against a wall forum" at AR?

It is probably more enjoyable than some of the ##-## posts (you know what I am talking about) repeating the same thing and probably more productive too.

Just think of the possibilities:

Discussions on types of wall, everything from granite or stone for the rich wall owners, to masonite or even tin for the poorer ones. Wall hitters in trailer parks. Now that's a thought!

(Even though I know I will never get to test out an African wall this is an African forum so I wonder what a thatched wall would feel like? We know a tent would be a waste of time. But if you aimed right you might just strike a pole.)

Which walls will get damaged the most? We know the heads are too thick and block headed to get damaged!

Also the velocity of the wall head hitting? Is a slow thump the most effective, or a fast vigourous one? A single solid well aimed blow, or multiple little taps?

Minutes, Hours, Days, even Weeks, dare I say Years of endless fun in discussion is possible.

Keep the faith my son.

Surely the double barrel rifle and 45-70 will come into play here. Maybe they could stand on opposite sides of a thatch wall and simultaneously test for penetration.

I suggest that all the Walls should meet at the corner, for cold one. Make sure there are no half-walls there, trying to get served. Later on, go on over to Wall-Marts and check out the new glueless paper. But be forewarned, once you get a load of the prices you'll hit the ceiling!

OK now I know I will never be able to afford a safari to test it out on wall types in Africa.

But I was reading an article by someone who did. Now he took his flat head hardened by practice on American Indian Adobe walls in New Mexico and tried it out on African manure, spit and mud hut walls.

His American flathead penetrated just as well as the pointed heads of the locals. Given he did have to make harder slower knocks but the walls gave way in spectacular fashion.

This proves the good old American flathead specially hardened skulls will penetrate a mud wall just as effectively as an African head.

Now I don't see why even the stone walls of "Great Zimbabwe" would be an obstacle to the "plus" hardened flat heads either.

Argueing on the internet is like trying to teach a pig calculus. All it does is frustrate you and annoy the pig.

Constructing walls for testing gets too expensive for me. I just use what's handy.

Nitro- what is missing here is the proper test. A mud and spit wall of African design is like hunting plains game, a big thumper is not necessary. Now if you place the American blunt head against a bamboo African wall, his head will merely deflect. The African pointed head will penetrate this structure and knock it down. I am surprised that you did not know this. It's all about velocity and head space.
