This thread has got me thinking, and I thank LittleJoe for that. I have been searching for ideas amongst the replies.

I am open to suggestions of interesting geography/environment areas and the animals that exist in them. I have listed what I have visited in Africa, above.

For North America I am not interested in the lower 48 anymore, (seen it). Here is what I have already seen.

Alaska: Adak, Prince William Sound, and the tree free peninsula.

Canada: Ontario, BC, Alberta, New Brunswick, Nunavut, NWT and the polar ice pack 73 degrees North.

Europe: British Isles, Alps, Moscow area.

Asia: Georgia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan.

So I will continue reading along for ideas. Maybe Nepal or Mongolia. Glorious mountains in the one and vast nothingness in the other, with interesting people in both.

Mark,

3 tries on a big Whitetail and no luck!! Join the crowd. And don't think the tree stand thing is a given in swaying the odds in your favor. I've been chasing whitetail deer seriously since I was 7 years old by my Dad's side. 43 years with only a few missed seasons while I was in the Navy and the best I've managed is one at 141, and 3 that broke 130. I've used feeders but no high fence.

My unfulfilled dream hunt currently is Bongo and Roan.

Did you notice how prevalent the Lord Derby eland and Bongo were in the post? Discriminating members here on AR. The Dwarf Red Buffalo would round out the top three for me and could be hunted all on the same safari.

I have always dreamed of taking an elephant over 100 pounds per side with really long tusks like the old timer's in East Africa took so many years ago. I'm afraid a dream is all that will ever be.

Lord Derby Eland would be second for Africa.

And for America, Kate Upton!! Eeker

If I keep the list to my top five that can still be hunted and imported into the USA. In no particular order:

Elephant
Bongo
Altai Argali
African Lion
Desert Bighorn Sheep

The two runners up that are either unimportable or are currently closed to hunting at the moment are takin and polar bear. If I had the whole list of animals I wanted though, it might read something like Noah's Ark.

Of the stuff I have not hunted, in Africa I would dearly love to hunt wild black rhino in the old fashioned manner. I don't think that will ever happen again.

In North America, Polar Bear by dogsled.

In the rest of the world, Tiger.

I guess I just want what is impossible to get, although I have hopes of the polar bear opening again. Born 30 years too late I guess.

Limited to what I have not yet shot and segregated logically:

Elephant, leopard, sable, and roan -- hope to take care of that this October.

An eland (maybe this October).

Bushbuck (maybe in October).

steenbuck, duikers, dik dik and all the little guys.

After that, I think I'll be back to buffalo and/or anything else I discover is irresistible once I've hunted them (elephant or cats???).

If actually sought (and not just a target of opportunity) this is probably North America'a most elusive trophy. My father was a Wildlife biologist so I have spent a lot of time in the woods since I was very small. I have seen just ONE wolverine.

Great question, Justin.

Mine would be:

Africa, 100 lb. class elephant and another lion. Lord Derby Eland, Bongo and the northern Tanzania plains game like lesser kudu and gerenuk.

Asia, Marco Polo, and Altai Argali. IF it were legal, a tiger might be the #1 most desired animal of all for me.

North America, Polar Bear, and both bighorns. Already got the big elk, but always enjoy hunting big bulls in September and will never tire of that. Sorry Mark, got a 160 class whitetail the first time I tried in Montana, and it was just like late season elk hunting, long shots across a canyon in below zero weather.

If finances allowed, I'd hunt somewhere in Africa once or twice per year for the rest of my life.

I've always been an immense fan of Jim Corbett, so I'd say that Tiger is #1. Jaguar would be a close 2nd.

Me too.

Sitting in a Howdah with a blackpowder express double barreled rifle with both hammers cocked ofcouse Smiler.
Hunting in India today is as difficult as setting up a shootingrange at Times square.
Hunting sambar, hogs etc would also be quit find with me.

1) Lion
2) Kodiak or Alaska Peninsula brown bear
3) 100lb elephant
4) Rhino
5) Hippo

What I dream about:
To be able once again to share the sights and sounds of the Colorado mountains during elk season and those of Africa while tracking elephant with my dad ... and for my brother and children to be with us to share in those experiences. For me it's not about hunting, it's about sharing the hunt and memories.

I'd like to take a really, really nice Cape buffalo before my time is up.
I think it was reading Ruark's "Use Enough Gun" when I was about 14 that did it ...
I'd also love to hunt elk in Mongolia.
