Seeing Jorge's post "reflections on bushbuck" and Steve's post on a "monster oryx" reminded me of a particularly nice Chobe Bushbuck that a client and I took in Moz a few years back - I scrounged around to find the pic and have had placed it here for viewing: http://www.africanhuntersguild.com/posts/bushbuck.htm

Is it me or is the Chobe bushbuck a good bit larger than the Limpopo version? That is one awesome trophy! Pete, That is the nicest bushbuck I've ever seen. I've actually seen an honest 18.5" but I don't remember it having the mass or the beautiful turn and flare out of that one. Truly lovely! What a beautiful trophy. I love the looks of african spiral horn species. The price of knowledge is great but the price of ignorance is even greater.

I am not quite as proud of my 15 1/2 buck as I was. What a great animal. Sprig Rose lipped maidens--light foot lads!!!

Hey Mark, Do you remember the bushbuck I shot at Nybasenga camp in 94 with Robbie Martin????????

gunny, I do remember that monster. It took me 4 more years to shoot a 16+ Chobe but since I have been fortunate enough to take a Masai and Cape. Maybe the Limpopo next year. I seem to remember that bushbuck of yours being 19". Did it shrink or did the adult beverages affect the first measurements? Anyway I have some video I took of that beast and any time I want to see a REAL bushbuck I take a look at the footage. You really had an exceptional safari that first time. Regards, Mark MARK H. Mark, It was actually just a shade under 19 inches with seven something bases. The only thing the adult beverages inflated was my headache the next day. Every time I look at it on the wall it brings back a flurry of memories, you guys included. Ive seen several since but havent pulled the trigger for obvious reasons. Like killing a 90 pounder on your first go.

That is a truly remarkable bushbuck! To say the least.. In what area did you shoot him and when? Best regards Anders Anders Hunting and fishing DVDs from Mossing & Stubberud Media: www.jaktogfiskedvd.no ..and my blog at: http://andersmossing.blogspot.com

Hi Anders, The bushbuck in the pic was taken by my client in the Zambezi delta, on the outskirts of the swamps in the Marremeou buffalo reserve in 2001. I took 2 others of a very high quality and score within weeks - 3 different clients hunting with me for buffalo, sable, bushbuck specifically. Best of all, and at end of their safari while en route to the airfield, another great ram broke cover and ran across in front of my landrover - I thought now I have his address and will return for him - am still looking
