Guys,

I am looking for a nice screen saver for my desktop at work.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks

Gerhard

I really like just using all my Africa safari pictures as a slide show for mine. Type in "African Hunter Screen Saver" into Google, and use their free ones. Very large selection of quality photos, and free.

Jakkals,

Picasa and other picture storage sites offer a screen saver option. We have hundreds of pics and they continuosly run as slide show on the screen. I love it.

Hey Jakkals,

Here is a direct link to the screen savers that tradewinds was talking about. There are three different sets of them so when you get tired of one group, you can just update to the next. These are some great photos BTW, and I hope you enjoy them.

Hi Alan,

pity that your screen savers are only usable on PCs. Nothing for a Mac lover?

Cheers,

Hey Sunshine,

I didn't realize that these screen savers were dependent on any particular OS platform, but it makes sense that screen saver software can only work on one particular OS or the other.

The problem, as far as I know, is that there are no equivalent products for the MAC (or Linux) operating systems. And even if such products did exist, the acquisition and production costs on our end would make it prohibitively expensive for us to implement them.

MS Windows, with over 90% of the worldwide user-base, rules the cyber sea, and you must have compatibility with them or face some nasty consequences. Personally, I would love to see both Microsoft and Apple crash and burn, so that open source code/open architecture could reign, but I know that will never happen. Money and not good intentions rule the world we live in, and there is no getting around it.

So, I must say that while I regret the compatibility issues, the real solution rests with the Apple camp to come up with their own resolution. Furthermore, since we are giving these screen savers away for free, there is no way I can spend any time or money trouble-shooting this issue.

But, I would be willing to implement any solution you can provide for the needs of the Apple user community. I'm sorry that I don't have better news for you, and for the digital philosophizing, but this is a very frustrating topic for me on levels that run deeper than just screen saver compatibility.

......so now let us return to our regular programming..... Cool

Cheers,

Alan
