Kenyans feast on jumbos 2009-09-10 14:50 Nairobi -Residents of a remote Kenyan village swarmed carcasses of five elephants knocked down by a train, slicing off chunks of flesh for a rare bush meat meal, a wildlife official said on Thursday. Two adult elephants and three calves were hit by the train crossing the southern Tsavo National Park on Wednesday, Kenya Wildlife Service official Jonathan Kirui said. The elephants were heading to drink from a pool of water that had formed from a burst pipe. A prolonged drought in Kenya is threatening the survival of its wild animals which are a key to the tourism industry, a major foreign exchange earner. - AFP Kathi kathi@wildtravel.net 708-425-3552 "The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page." | ||
