Elephant, Buffalo, Kudu, and serval pictures. I do not know why I cannot just get them to appear without the link. If it can be corrected let me know how.

Very Nice. How much did the ivory go?

I think that the problem with the images is that they are "bit map" images (.bmp) and not a "Joint Photographic Experts Group" images (.jpg or .jpeg).

You'd have to convert them to jpeg and repost them onto hunt101 to get them to show up here.

Elephant is 45 pounds. Hunted the Manjola/Siabuwa area of ZIM, PH Gavin Rorke from Russ Broom safaris. Used a Merkel 470 on the elephant and a 375 H&H Sako on everything else.

Steve,

You were correct on the bit map versus jpeg and now the pictures appear.

Thanks

Pintailduck100,

I am guessing 40 pounds plus as it felt heavier than my 35 pound Brittany. Does a serval make a good pet, I guess no mouse in your house.

hi-
yea they are like a cross btwn a dog and cat. they are like any animal the more time you invest in them the better they are.

i'm 6'2" and he can jump over my head. he can also run about 30mph. so his food better be locked up because he can get just about anywhere he wants.

you are right about no mouse in the house. also he will eat the bugs, and grab any bird that comes within 10ft of him.

how do you like your Merkel 470? also what bullets did you use with it.

thanks.

pintailduck100,

I like the Merkel although it is for sale. The gun has been on 3 safaris and has performed well. I have determined I prefer a scope so I am having a 404 built on a Model 70 action. The 404 for buffalo and a 375 for plains game. My elephant hunting days are on hold for a while. I have always used Federal TBSH bullets.

If any interest in the 470, I am asking 7K with 80 rounds of Federal TBSH, fitted case and cape buffalo case.
