The recent U-Tube video of a tuskless hunt brings to mind the flak that was raised in another post around 3 weeks ago.

The difference between one instance and the other is that Karl's bull that was standing 30yds or so away from the nearest other animal was deemed to have been "shot in the herd" and the exiting bullet struck and killed a bystander 30 yds away.

Well now, in the U-Tube video, were the 3 shots fired at the elephant in the not "shooting into the herd"? At the third shot there was most definitely another animal broadside behind it.

It so happened that no bodies were left lying around but whose to tell there wasn't an elephant with a gut ache or a bullet lodged somewhere in its body mass that left no tell-tale sign at the time?

Looks like Karl got the rough end of the stick for nothing.

I think if you watch my video- Buzz was saying "wait, wait, wait" and "watch the other ones" until things were clear on the 3rd shot. Remember that the camera angle and my angle are somewhat different. First shot was head on nothing behind-high, second was clear just forward as she was the lead elephant and none in front of her- third in the ear hole when head was clear of other eles. Also, I was shooting up at her head. Watching the video there was one behind and a little to the rear (which we could not see even though we were looking- I don't think it was behind the head though. I don't know about the other thread, but I lived this one and know we were conscious of the other eles while trying to put her down after my less than perfect initial shot.

Good Hunting,

After all the talk about deflected pass-throughs and you're shooting into a herd. Shame, shame, double shame. Smiler
