I am transiting through SA on way to Harare, Zimbabwae. If I stay in the transit lounge, do I need to fill out a SAPS Form 520?

Or, can I leave the airport and stay in a guest house for a few hours to sleep and shower, but leave my rifle and checked luggage checked through to Harare?

Thanks, Andy

Andy I just returned from Zim on Monday. On the way over via SAA, I had my bags checked from Atlanta to Vic Falls. They were held at the Joberg airport pend the Vic Falls flight the next day. I did not/could not declare them, worked great. I overnighted at Afton house and flew out the next day with just my overnight bag. Gun & ammo(locked suitcase) landed with me at VF. Best of luck.

I did exactly what Art did except that I flew Northwestern/KLM and had no problems either. I did have all the necessary South African paper work ready though just in case. Would advise that you do as well.
